Day 3 of the PokerStars North American Poker Tour at the Mohegan Sun started with 195 players, but before the end of the seventh level of the day, just 24 players were left.  Phil Ivey was among those who hit the rails, exiting in 29th place and earning $16,000.

The action progressed at a furious pace, and the field was quickly whittled down to the final 104, who all earned at least $7,500. Nicholas Kamen was the unfortunate bubble boy and will go home empty handed after 3 days of play.

Selbst and Seiver ahead by over 500k

The day however belonged to Selbst and Seiver who were both responsible for the elimination of a string of opponents. They go into Day 3 with 2.3 million and 2.2 million chips respectively, about 554k ahead of the 3rd placed Dale Jamison.

It is not too often that you see female players atop the field of a major event like this, but Vanessa Selbst is doing just that. Joining her in the final 24 is another familiar female face, Vanessa Rousso. Rousso is right in the middle of the chasing pack, with 720,000 chips, and in 13th place.

Here are the chip leaders after Day 3:
