PokerStars WCOOP 2009 starts this week
WCOOP 2009 will start in just a few days, kicking off the with NL Hold'em 6-max event on 3rd September. Over 18 days, 45 events will payout $40 million in guaranteed prize money.
The world's richest online poker series, the PokerStars WCOOP will start in just a few days. WCOOP 2009 will kick off with the $215 NL Hold'em 6-max event on 3rd September and will culminate in the two day $5,2000 Main Event starting on 20th September.
A wide variety of games will be played across the 18 days. This includes the different formats of Hold'em, Omaha, Stud and Draw Poker. Badugi and the 8-Game mixed event will be two new additions to the already long list of events.
$40 million total guaranteed prize pool
Since its inception, the total prize money for all WCOOP events is a staggering $103 million over 121 events. This year's WCOOP will feature a bigger than ever guaranteed prize pool of $40 million, and will include 45 events. Last year's Main Event winner ckingusc walked away with $1,265,432.23.
14 events will feature prize pools of over $1 million and entrants of the WCOOP Main Event will be able to fight for a piece of the guaranteed $10 million. Other big events include the two day NL Hold'em events starting on 6th and 13th September, each featuring an $3 million guaranteed prize.
Players who wish to participate in the WCOOP can already start qualifying via satellites that are running round the clock on PokerStars. The satellite buy-ins start from as low as $2.20 and FPP points satellites are also available for players who wish to redeem their VIP benefits.
