PokerStrategist MAE9690 Wins PokerStars EPT Vienna for €700,000

20 year old PokerStrategist Michael "MAE9690" Eiler outlasted the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Martin Hruby to score his first major live cash in EPT Vienna. He took home €700,000 while Negreanu only finished 4th, despite holding a big chip lead early on.

MAE9690mae9690 (pictured right) started the final table of the PokerStars EPT Vienna Main Event in third place. His 2 million chip starting stack was dwarfed by Negreanu's, who held 5 million - almost a quarter of all the chips in play.

From a PokerStars qualifier to €700k

However, as Negreanu and the rest of the final table cast fell by the wayside, MAE6960 who qualified for this event via PokerStars and who also once took down the Sunday Million, stayed the course to setup the heads-up match against Martin Hruby.

Hruby started the match with the chip advantage but MAE9690 picked up a crucial double up 30 minutes into the game to even things up with AsJd against Ac3h, all in preflop. He then opened a 2:1 chip lead, after he got Hruby to call him down on three streets with a worse hand to his top pair.

Less than an hour later, it was all over when Hruby called MAE9690's third straight preflop all in from the button. MAE9690 had AdTd, Hruby had 2c2h for a coin flip, but three diamonds on the flop pretty much sealed the title for MAE9690.

Negreanu loses chance to overtake Ivey on All-time Money List

Meanwhile, Negreanu was still in good position to take home and his first ever EPT title and also overtake Phil Ivey at the the top of the All Time Money List, when they were down to just five players. But things started to turn when a 3-way pot saw him lose a huge pot to Hruby.

On a board of 8h5hKs9s, they went all in with Luca Cainelli holding pocket rockets, Negreanu top two pair while Hruby turned a straight and took the chip lead while eliminating Cainelli when the river blanked.

In the end, it was also Hruby who dealt the final elimination blow when Negreanu open shoved from the button with Qs8s and Hruby called with Ac4h. An ace hit the board on the turn, and Negreanu's EPT Vienna Main Event run was over.
