Records broken at the WPT and EPT

Whether you are in Vegas or Prague this week, the live poker fields have been some of the biggest we have ever seen.

When the WPT Championship was announced to take place at the same time as EPT Prague, it created a sense of wonder which one would be bigger. 

It looks like both events are set to be massive because the prelim events at each series have broken big records. 

The $1,100 WPT Prime Championship was meant to be a warm-up event to the WPT Championship. 5,430 entries later it is one of the biggest tournaments of all time. To say it broke the previous WPT Prime record of 1,050 is an understatement. The eventual winner will get over $700,000. 

All eyes will be on that $15 million guaranteed WPT Championship Main Event this week. The buzz in Vegas is that there is a WSOP Main Event style feeling in the air. 

Eureka record broken the 2nd time this year

Elsewhere in Prague the €1,100 Eureka Main Event has done something very similar. 4,018 entries in total eclipsed the previous record of 3,155 from the same event earlier this year (remember the 2021 EPT Prague festival was moved to March 2022). 

Nine players remain in that with a €496,760 first-place prize going to the eventual champion.

Live poker is booming on both sides of the pond, we could be gearing up to see two of the biggest Main Events in poker history this week.
