Talal Shakerchi wins the Triton Poker Main Event
A $3.2 million score for the man who must be considered the best recreational player in the world.
He may not technically be a professional player, but Talal Shakerchi has a resume any poker player would be proud of.
He has just defeated a field of 135 elite players in the $100,000 Triton Poker Main Event in Vietnam. He defeated a final table that included Nick Petrangelo, Tim Adams, Fedor Holz and Adrian Mateos for $3,250,000.
“Poker is my hobby and I want to play the best players,” Shakerchi said. “That’s how you get satisfaction out of any activity that you do. Challenge yourself and try to do the best you can.”

This was the career-best score for the London banker who has previously won five SCOOP titles, multiple live High Rollers, and millions in live and online earnings. If there is a conversation to be had about who the best non-professional player in the world is, he must be at the top of the list.
