The 2018 SCOOP schedule released
We round-up more stories you may have missed including that big GVC/Ladbrokes merger and partypoker events to introduce new rules.
SCOOP 2018
Always one of the most popular online festivals of the year because it caters for players of low, medium and high stakes buy-ins, the Spring Championship of Online Poker returns between May 6 to May 21.
$65 million is guaranteed and at least one event each day will have a minimum of $1 million guaranteed. The Main Events on Sunday, May 21 will feature a $109 buy-in with $1.5 million guaranteed, $1,050 buy-in with $4 million guaranteed and a $10,300 buy-in with $5 million guaranteed.
Any player who has played a SCOOP event before will be invited to a $50,000 freeroll and five PSPC Platinum Passes will be awarded - one for each Main Event champion, one for Player of the Series and a fifth All-In Shootout for everybody else.
GVC and Ladbrokes merger confirmed
We were late to the party updating on this but the GVC acquisition of Ladbrokes Coral went through last month, creating a gaming giant worth €7.4 billion.
GVC is the parent company of partypoker and this deal makes them one of the largest operators in gambling, especially sportsbetting, as a result.
It will also, no doubt, expand the possibilities for partypoker itself now it has access to the database of one of the largest sportsbetting companies in the world.
New rules at partypoker events
Speaking of partypoker it has just been announced that all their live events will adopt Marcel Luske's International Poker Rules.
Luske has been trying to standardise the rules on all poker tours for more than ten years.
This means that amongst other rules, all partypoker tables will have an official 'betting line' which chips have to be moved over to make an action binding, as well as the 'first card off the deck' rule meaning that players have to be seated when the first card is dealt, otherwise their hand is dead.
