Pius Heinz Sparks Celebrations in Germany

Unless you've been in hiding, you'll know by now that Germany crowned its first WSOP champion early this morning as Pius Heinz deservedly battered his way through Ben Lamb and Martin Staszko to win the WSOP Main Event.

Caesars CEO Upbeat on Online Poker

CEO of Caesars Entertainment Gary Loveman yesterday addressed investors in his quarterly update. He remains positive about progress for online legislation in the US.

Loveman believes it will take between 12 and 14 months post-legislation for Caesars to have a fully functioning online poker offering.

The Las Vegas Review Journal covered the story and indicates Loveman is "pleased that more of his gaming colleagues have climbed on the bandwagon to support legalization."

Leann Tweeden all-in for Playboy

The former Poker After Dark and NBC Heads-Up Championship hostess has stripped off for Playboy's December issue, where she speaks highly of the poker community, claiming a lot of poker players "are cool people, but a lot of them are not socialized" as "they spend their time online."

High Stakes Corner

The past 24 hours at high stakes HQ have belonged to Brazilian PLO monster "verve.oasis". After booking a win good for $149,022 according to HSDB, he is close to $750,000 profit for the year on PokerStars.

It was a good day also for "alexeimartov" who banked $139,252 with "mikki696" and "GARFIELD25" both losing around $70,000.

How to Win the WSOP by Scotty Nguyen

Scotty Nguyen is one of the true characters of poker. After his infamous display of drunken aggression at the 2008 WSOP $50,000 HORSE final table, the poker community was quick to criticize Nguyen for his antics.
