Farewell High Stakes Poker

Sad news reaches us today that TV network GSN will be removing cult poker TV show High Stakes Poker from its lineup from January 2012.

The long running cash game series, arguably the most popular televised poker show in history, has failed to draw a captive audience lately.

Since the departure of host Gabe Kaplan, High Stakes Poker has lost a significant portion of its viewers and at this moment in time there are no plans for an eighth season of HSP on any other network.

EPT Prague

Day 1b of the EPT Prague saw a record breaking field turn out for what is now the largest ever poker tournament held in the Czech Republic .

Notable survivors from day 1b include Liv Boeree, Lex Veldhuis, Luca Pagano, ElkY and William Thorson.

407 players reconvene today at the Hilton Prague Hotel for seven levels of high octane poker as we search for our next EPT champion.

Tony G interview

Antanas Guoga or Tony G as he is more commonly known, is one of the most recognisable figures in poker.

When he talks, it's usually worth listening to, and this week PokerStrategy.com conducted a fascinating interview with the man renowned for sending people on their bikes.

Tony covers a wide range of topics including the state of online poker, and some of the craziest cash games he's ever played in. It’s well worth a listen.

High stakes corner

The past 24 hours have seen PLO whizz Ben "Ben86" Tollerene embark on a profitable run at the PokerStars high stakes tables and net himself $94,207 in the process, according to HSDB.

It was another dreary day for PLO regular "VietRussian" who took a sizeable hit, dropping a grand total of $109,364.

PartyPoker anonymous table issue

As we published yesterday, it appears that the anonymous tables on Bodog are exploitable and one can reveal player aliases. We would like to inform our users that a similar problem has been revealed on PartyPoker's anonymous heads-up tables.

Hotshot of the day

We recently crowned Miss Tatjana Pasalic as hotshot of the year, and today we draw attention to another countdown over at Wicked Chops Poker.

WCP are currently voting on Girl on the Rail of the Year. One of the contenders we were particularly drawn to was 'Hot Blonde in Blue', below.
