WPT Borgata

The record breaking field over at the WPT Borgata has been whittled down to 170 players from an initial 1313 entrants.

Day 2 saw some fast paced action and come the end of play well known US pro David Williams was leading the way sitting on a stack of 727,100 chips.

There's a plethora of talent left in the tournament with the likes of Eric "sheets" Haber, recent WPT champion Will "The Thrill" Failla and Vanessa Selbst all in contention. Live updates can be found here.

Notes on a scandal

If you've been living under a rock for the last 24 hours, you may have missed the latest news concerning Full Tilt Poker.

While the poker world's eyes and ears were transfixed firmly on the AGCC hearing in London yesterday, it was news from across the pond in the Manhattan U.S Attorney's Office that blew everything out of the water.

U.S Attorney Preet Bharara announced that prosecutors had amended their original complaint against FTP, now labelling Full Tilt Poker as "not a legitimate poker company, but a global Ponzi scheme".

The aftermath of these allegations has been heard around the world with global news networks reporting on FTP's misdemeanours.

WCOOP latest

Yesterday was one of the quieter days of this year's WCOOP over at PokerStars.

Three tournaments kicked off with two managing to finish: the first of these was the $320 mixed Hold'em/Omaha event, eventually won by "Tim Piper" of the UK for $45,795.67.

Next up was the $530 Stud H/L event, won by "marroca5" of Columbia, who wins $25,545 for pipping Team PokerStars Pro Anders "Donald" Berg of Norway.

The third tournament of the day concludes this evening, with 49 players returning to battle it out in the $1050 NL Hold'em.

High stakes corner

We reported yesterday on a new Canadian account at PokerStars who seemed to be putting in the hours at the online felt. "!P0krparty?" continued his excessive volume yesterday in one of the longest shifts ever recorded at the high stakes games, having racked up an incredible 14,780 hands over the past 48 hours.

For most players this is more than they would play in a month, so this player has some serious stamina.

For his dedication to the cause he sits with a tidy $247,652 for the session. The big losers over the last 24 hours are Rafi "refealamit" Amit who's down $94,156 and "gavz101" who has been alleviated of $81,497. Results courtesy of HSDB.

Today's hot shot features a well know poker personality who has reason to celebrate today.

Bodog Poker announced yesterday that they were unveiling their latest team Bodog member to join the likes of our favourite Tatjana Pasalic and Evelyn Ng.

We can confirm that the sexy Amanda Leatherman is the latest Bodog sponsored pro. It seems that Amanda is intent on spending more time at the tables than at the cameras, and is quoted saying "it's been a while since I have been fully able to concentrate on playing myself – I'm definitely ready to hit the felt on my own".
