The Luckbox wins his first Bracelet
Sebastian Ruthenberg, known online as 'Luckbox', prevailed over 260 further participants in the $5,000 World Championship Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better and won his first bracelet. In the heads-up he defeated Chris Ferguson.
Started as Chip Leader
The citizen of Hamburg, Germany, Sebastian 'Luckbox/miamivice'
Ruthenberg, went to the final table as chip leader with 663,000 chips. At this time, Chris Ferguson was already his closest follower with 434,000 chips. Also at the table were known names like Annie Duke (227,000) and Marcel Luske (308,000). Prior to the final table, other famous players like Howard Lederer (9th place),
David Benyamine (10th), Chau Giang (11th), Allen Cunningham (13th) and
Barry Greenstein (14th) dropped out of the tourney.
Sebastian did not let himself get worked up over those famous names though and breezed through the finale despite difficult situations in the heads-up.
Cautious Start for Sebastian
Sebastian gave up a big pot early on and decreased to about 515,000 chips, after which he calmed down a bit and cautiously picked his spots.
Sebastian eliminates Alessio Isaia
It was crucial though that he was there in the correct spots. Thus he was able to eliminate Alessio Isaia on rank 6. On sixth street, Sebastian got a pair of aces and a Seven-Five Low.
Ferguson eliminates Bob Lauria
Chris Ferguson sent his fellow countryman Bob Lauria to the rails with a full house, and thus already prepared the heads-up against Sebastian.
Heads-up
Chris Ferguson started into the heads-up with a lead of 1.6M chips to 1.15M chips for Sebastian. Within a few hands though, Sebastian was able to win a monster pot to claim a massive lead. It wasn't meant to last long though as Ferguson fought back again. This up and down went on for some time and the chip lead kept on switching between the two.
Sebastian ultra-short – but not for long
Shortly after the break, Sebastian ceded another huge pot and dropped to about 225,000 chips. With an all-in he was able to double up to 550,000, but he was still short. Another victorious all-in a bit later took him back to 800,000 chips. With a gigantic pot he then managed to get ahead of Ferguson and secured the lead again.
The decisive Hand
And this time, the chip lead held on: In the last hand, Sebastian was able to prevail over Ferguson's pair of aces with his own two pair, and won his first bracelet.
2nd WSOP Cash, 1st Bracelet
For Sebastian it was only the second WSOP cash in his carreer. In the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Event he finished 68th for $4,655. By winning the bracelet he proved again that he can be counted amongst the most hopeful up-and-coming young players in Germany.
