The Super High Roller Bowl returns this year

Can Justin Bonomo win three Super High Roller Bowls in a calendar year? He has a chance, as it now takes place in December instead of May.

In just a few years the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl taking place on the eve of the World Series of Poker had become a poker tradition, but no more. 

Poker Central have announced that the exclusive event will now take place in the winter, beginning this year between December 17-19. 

The reason is to neatly wrap up in a calendar year what Poker Central call their 'High Roller Triple Crown' which is The Poker Masters, the US Poker Open and the Super High Roller Bowl.

The Super High Roller Bowl remains a $300,000 buy-in tournament with $5 million guaranteed to the winner. 48 players only, with 25 decided by a lottery draw (this year on November 27 on PokerGO), 18 VIP guest invites and the top five finishers in the High Roller of the Year race (if they decline, it goes to the next player in the rankings). 

As of now those five top ranked platers would be Sam Soverel, Cart Katz, Justin Bonomo, Dan Smith and David Peters, with Nick Petrangelo being the first alternate.

Interestingly this new date for the event sets up a fascinating potential story where Justin Bonomo could win three Super High Roller Bowls in a single year. He has already won the Super High Roller Bowl China in March and the main Super High Roller Bowl in May.
