The World Series of Poker Main Event starts today
For the first time ever late registration will be allowed on Day 2 - how will that affect this year's numbers?
It's that time again, the biggest tournament in the poker year gets underway today.
The $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event takes place between July 3 and July 16. There are three starting days on July 3, 4 and 5 respectively, followed by Day 2A and 2B on July 6 and Day 2C on July 7. On July 8 the field will combine.
For the first time in its history, late registration will be allowed on Day 2 with a healthy 75 BB starting stack.
The money bubble is expected to burst on Day 4.
The final table will form on July 12 and then following a day off on July 13 will play down to six players on July 14, down to three players on July 15 and to a winner on July 16.
Last year John Cynn defeated a field of 7,874 to take down the first prize of $8,800,000 and the Main Event title.
How to follow the Main Event
This year the World Series of Poker Main Event is going to be predominantly covered in-house at the WSOP's own website.
Live broadcasts of the Main Event will be shared between ESPN, PokerGO and CBS in the US. If you are watching from Europe in most instances all the available broadcasts will be on PokerGO.
