The biggest winners of 2016
Find out who won the most money and topped the rankings last year live and online.
Live tournaments - Fedor Holz
No surprises here. In 2016 Fedor Holz arguably pulled off the greatest year ever in live tournaments, so good he (claimed) he had nothing left to prove and retired.
He won $16,484,153 in 2016 a feat which included the One Drop title, an EPT Super High Roller, 2nd place in the Super High Roller Bowl and three Aria High Roller titles.
Amazingly he did not win the Global Poker Index Player of the Year title. That honour went to David Peters who won $7,564,646 in 2016 in a year that saw him win a bracelet, four other titles and 18 more final tables. He may have won less than Fedor but he was much more prolific (plus Fedor's results were mostly in smaller field Super High Rollers).
Online tournaments - Fabrizio Gonzalez

Fabrizio 'SixthSenSe19' Gonzalez ended the year on the top spot of the PocketFives MTT Rankings after an excellent end to the year.
His lifetime cashes online now total $4,782,244 with $3,811,229 of that alone at PokerStars.
He also had his biggest win to date in 2016, taking down $355,731 for a 2nd place in the $21,000 WCOOP PLO High Roller.
SNGS - akis_333

Technically the biggest winners in Single Table Tournaments last year would be one of the players who won a $1 million Spin & Go, but given those are lottery style events we instead turn to regular SNGs.
'akis_333' is the highest ranked SNG grinder on Sharkscope for 2016, with $251,916 in profit.
It may surprise you to see that the second highest ranked played for the year was Daniel 'w00ki3z' Cates, who profited for $157,749 last year.
Online cash games - Alexander Kostritsyn

After changing management at the end of the year, HighStakesDB decided to no longer allow players to opt out of cash game results tracking.
As a result we now know that Russian player Alexander 'joiso' Kostritsyn won the most money on PokerStars cash games last year with a profit of $1,466,568.
The biggest loser was unknown player 'bodamos' who lost $788,183 in 2016.

Please note that all the above ranking systems are imperfect. HendonMob does not track profit and the online trackers are not guaranteed to capture every single result.
