WCOOP Main Event: POTTERPOKER Claims the Title

POTTERPOKER dominated a field of 2,443 players who signed up for the WCOOP Main Event. His final opponent was joeysweetp, whom he bested for the nearly $2.3 million first place prize.

With a prize pool of $12,215,000 on the line, a total of 2,443 players showed up on the first play day of the WCOOP Main Event. By the end of the day, only 271 players remained.

Day 2 continued yesterday evening and after over 11 hours of play, the tournament was getting close to crowning the champion. By then, all the notable pros such as Jason Mercier (181st place) and Chad Brown (71st place), were sent to the rails.

A dominant victory for POTTERPOKER

While PokerStrategist jaybeastie had the 2nd largest stack before the play continued on Day 2, he too couldn't find his way to the final table. Meanwhile, POTTERPOKER was not amongst the largest stack holders at the beginning of the day, but he steadily worked his way up to a comfortable chip lead.

He entered the final table with a stack of 15,879,027 in chips. In comparison, the shortest stack had 416,280 chips and his closest challenger had 5,783,488 chips. With the players falling one by one, the battle for the title came down to the heads-up clash between POTTERPOKER and joeysweetp.

joeysweetp had a tough task ahead of him, as his opponent had a 6-to-1 chip advantage. Faced with a rapidly shrinking stack, he doubled up once and tried to catch up with POTTERPOKER, but his fate was sealed shortly afterwards. The final hand of the tournament secured the victory for POTTERPOKER, who received a massive cash prize of $2,278,097.50.
