WPT & EPT Main Events crush records simultaneously

Poker is booming globally as two of the biggest events of the year are happening at the same time, thousands of miles away from each other.





If you have a sense of Deja Vu you can be forgiven. Earlier this week we reported on record numbers for the prelim events at both the WPT World Championship and EPT Prague. Today we are doing the same for their main events. 

The WPT World Championship at the Wynn was the loftiest event of the year with $20 million guaranteed and millions in $10k seats given away. The event was rewarded by smashing the guarantee by almost 50%. 

2,960 entries in total and it has guaranteed everyone at the official final table will walk away a millionaire. 

There is a 'WSOP Main Event' or at least a 'PSPC' vibe about this event in Vegas, stay tuned this week for live streamed updates as the players go deep. 

A record turnout in Prague

A sensible concern would be that for the WPT event to thrive it would be at the expense of EPT Prague on the other side of the pond. Thankfully that is not the case and live poker is clearly booming globally right now. 

1,267 runners made it the biggest EPT Prague in history, beating the previous record of 1,118.

The winner of that will also walk away a millionaire and you can also catch up on this event live on the PokerStars Twitch channel. 

We crown a winner in Prague on Sunday and in Vegas next on Tuesday. It's a perfect way to end a turbulent poker year with two stand out events to rail.
