WPT Festa Al Lago: Freddy Deeb is in control

Freddy Deeb emerged from Day 5 as the chip leader with 3.84 million chips. With the shortest stack left at almost 1.4 million, there is still much to play for at the final table.

Tommy VedesWith Day 5 of the World Poker Tour Festa Al Lago complete, the final table of six players has been formed. Freddy Deeb, Tommy Vedes (pictured right), Jason Lavallee, Craig Crivello, Jason Burt and Shawn Cunix will return for one last day where they will compete for the $1.2 million first prize.

Deeb with 3.84 million chips is currently the man to beat, as he took the chip lead after a short Day 5 which lasted just 85 hands. Cunix follows closely in second place with 3.67 million chips, while Vedes is just 1,000 chips shy of 3 million in third place. The field is still tightly bunched and it is still anyone's game at the final table.

Crivello triples up to stay in the hunt

Day 5 started off with 11 players fighting for 6 spots in the televised final table. Of the 5 who were out of the top 6 and holding less than 1 million chips, Craig Crivello was the only one who survived despite starting with the smallest stack. Crivello's day started looking up when he tripled-up in a hand against Lavallee and Deeb.

Freddy DeebCrivello had moved all-in from the cut-off and Deeb (pictured right) called on the button. Lavallee then moved all-in as well and Deeb moved aside. Crivello held and had just a few outs against Lavallee's . Theboard came to give Lavallee a set on the turn, but the card also completed Crivello's straight to give a much needed boost to his chip stack.

Just a hand before, Larry Berg was really unlucky to be the first elimination of the day. Berg, who had been playing extremely tight, went all-in on the button with . It looked to be a chop as Tommy Vedes called with but Vedes hit the flush on the turn to eliminate Berg. Berg's 11th place finish earned him $47,710.

The other eliminations in Day 5 were Chris Bjorin ($47,710), Richard Sciuto ($63,610), Kido Pham ($89,450) and Aaron Jones ($129,210). Here are the starting stacks at the final table:
