WPT Grand Prix de Paris Day 1B: Darcourt Chip Leader After Day 1... Again
Day 1b of the WPT Grand Prix de Paris drew even more players that Day 1a had, and several of poker's biggest names made their entrance to the tournament.

The WPT Grand Prix de Paris Day 1b is in the books. 172 players registered today compared to 140 from Day 1a, making the total field for this tournament 312 players- quite a bit better than last year's 247.
Quite unlike yesterday's strangely fast bustouts, today play occurred at a more typical pace for a major tournament.
By the time the day was over, 97 players of the starting 172 remained. Tomorrow, they'll combine with the 70 survivors from yesterday for Day 2.
Frenchman Guillaume Darcourt finished Day 1b with a massive stack and the chip lead. Sound familiar? It should- Darcourt was the chip leader at the end of Day 1 at EPT Barcelona last week. He finished that event in 46th place after a monumental collapse, so perhaps he's learned his lesson and won't let his new stack go to waste.
Poker pro McLean Karr has been running good on and off the felt this week. Today he finished in 3rd place of the Day 1b entrants and bagged 133,200 chips, and when he leaves the poker room his girlfriend Tatjana Pasalic awaits him. Must be nice.
Although he's not towards the very top of the leaderboard so far, Jason Mercier played today and finished with 60,175 chips- a very healthy amount and a bit over the tournament average.
Some noteworthy Day 1b casualties include November Nine member Phil Collins and Jean-Robert Bellande.
Play will resume tomorrow with 167 players.
