WPT Marrakesh: Psychobenny Sixth!

The last day of the Main Event has been played and Christophe Savary is the last man standing. He took €377,262 back to France, Psychobenny finished in sixth place.

Christophe Savary can rightfully claim the title in Marrakesh, as he was the last person in the field with chips in front of him. He outlasted 415 other players in the three day event.

Most of the day it looked like Ludovic Lacay was going for his first WPT title. He was the first player that obtained more than 1,000,000 in chips and was chipleader for most of the day on the final table.

His luck changed when they were down to three players. He he made a back door flush against Christophe Savary's rivered full house. After that things just didn't want to go Lacay's way.

Lacay was finally eliminated in third place, when he shoved his 1,400,000 stack in the middle with . He got called by Savary, who only needed a short moment of deliberation. Savary held . The board completed a flush for both players and gave Lacay a painful look on his face. Back  to his home town Toulouse for Lacay with €164,182 in his wallet.

The heads-up was a very short lasted one. It went in quickly and Savary caught a straight against O'Dea's flopped pair of aces. The Frenchman is now in the list of prestigious WPT winners together with countrymen Elky, David Benyamine and Thomas Bichon.

Psychobenny's Elimination

psychobenny went to the final table as one of the short stacks. He had about 590,000 in chips when the average was close to a million.

It seemed to be a quick final table for Benny. With 9 players still gazing at the WPT trophy Benny caught himself in a bad spot.

He opened in early position and got re-raised by Balasz Botond from late position. Benny frowned a bit and shipped his stack in with Ace Queen. Balasz called faster than Phill Hellmuth ever could and tabled Ace King.

Benny could sigh of relieve as the flop gave him the nut straight. The turn and river blanked and Benny was up over a million!

Shortly before the break Benny played his key hand(see below) Unfortunately he lost it and was down to 6 big blinds after. Finally he was eliminated by Lacay when he pushed it in with K-4 and got called by A-8. A King brought help for Benny, but an Ace closed the deal.

Benny finished in 6th place good for €55,828. Not bad for a couple of days work. Congratulations!
