Day 1b of the WPT Prague is in the books. Between Day 1a's 231 entrants and Day 1b's 337 entrants, a total of 568 players participated in the event- creating a total prize pool of €1,753,200. Just 218 of those players will enter Day 2 today, and 63 of them will go home with a share of the prize pool. Only one, however, will earn the €450,000 first-place prize and the title of WPT Prague Champion.
Highlights from Day 1b
• Record-Setting Attendance - The 568-player field in this tournament was enough for it to claim the European WPT attendance record. Previously the record was held by WPT Vienna in Season IX, which drew 555 players. The world-wide record is still held by the 2011 WPT Borgata Poker Open which boasted 1,313 players.
• Who should we root for? - 4 PokerStrategists made it through Day 1a with chips, and 5 more managed to accomplish the same feat in Day 1b. Sebastian 'seb1986' Muller had the best day of those 5 and sits in 19th place with 132,100 chips. miikkaanttonen, romazzsgk, and iamn3cr0s also have chips, but are sitting in the bottom half of the field with some work to do. Good luck everyone!
• Noteworthy Players with Chips - Slovenian poker pro Casey Kastle has a massive lead on the field with 356,800 chips, over 100K more than Nikola Sears in 2nd place (262,800). American Steve O'Dwyer will enter Day 2 in 4th place overall with 241,000 chips. Mike McDonald (103,500), Eugene Katchalov (101,500), and Michael Tureniec (100,000) all finished with comfortable stacks as well.
Day 2 will begin today at 14:00 CET, and with the final table scheduled for Monday it may be a long day. Check out the action with the live ticker in the PokerStrategy.com forums:
