WSOP Event #12: David Oppenheim Leads After Day 1
David Oppenheim, Daniel Negreanu and Jimmy Fricke are at the front of the pack which will enter Day 2 of the $10,000 Mixed Event- arguably one of the toughest events in WSOP.
The $10,000 Mixed Event featured 194 players entering the day and only126 of them making it into Day 2. This tournament consists of 8 games,
2-7 Triple Draw, Limit Hold'em, Omaha Eight-or-better, Razz, Stud, Stud
Eight-or-better, No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha.
The tournament was officially started but it took a little bit longer
to actually get the players to their seats, as they were busy chatting
with one another. Another minor delay occurred when one of the tables
was found too wobbly for the players liking, though it was replaced
swiftly.
With everyone at their tables, it was easy to see that many pros like
this event, including Ivan Demidov, David Oppenheim, Jennifer Harman,
Vitaly Lunkin, David Pham, Jeff Madsen, Andy Black, Vanessa Rousso,
Doyle Brunson, Freddy Deeb and others.
Besides the small delay in the beginning, there were several more intriguing issues which spiced up the day. One gentleman thought that he was playing in a $10,000 Mixed Hold'em event and when he realised he is in a $10,000 Mixed Games event, he went into a wild attempt of getting a refund on his buy-in, even though he had already played several rounds.

Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu and Andy Bloch arrived late and took their seats. They were followed shortly after by Sorel Mizzi who had a copy of Super System 2 with him. It was open on the Triple Draw section with the headline reading "How To Play The Game."
Even more late arrivals were seen as the play progressed, including the man of the day - Phil Ivey. He joined the table with about 17,500 chips left but also with a new bracelet he won in Event #8 and a big grin on his face. Ivey was pretty much the topic of most of the table talks in the $10,000 event, with many of them probably being related to endless bets pros wager amongst themselves.

John Juanda and David Benyamine were also seen packing their bags. They were soon joined by Phil Ivey who did manage to double up several times and build up his stack, but he was sent to the rail by David Bach. Mike Matusow also left the tournament after losing to a one-outer David Pham caught on 7th street.
Not all surprises are necessarily bad and Josh Arieh found that out on his skin. The game was Stud and after Arieh showed his 2-5-6 upcards in a stud hand, he couldn't believe when the dealer moved his arm to push him the pot, giving him a better look at the game placard.
Arieh exclaimed, "That hand was Stud? I thought it was Stud 8!" One of his table mates commented, "We thought that you thought it was Razz." Either way, Arieh stack his new chips, still not believing his good fortune.
With everything said and done, an interesting Day 1 came to an end with 126 players remaining. Daniel Negreanu had a quite successful day, ending close behind the chip leader David Oppenheim.
