WSOP Event #12: Ville Wahlbeck Wins The Mixed Event
Ville Wahlbeck made his second final table in this year's WSOP and while he finished third in the first one, this time he made it all the way to the first place which got him his first bracelet.
Twenty players returned for Day 3 of the $10,000 Mixed Event and itdidn't take long for the first of them to fall. John Cernuto and Matt
Hawrilenko were the first victims of the day.
Hawrilenko moved all-in on the flop of 
with 
. Todd Brunson called with 
and with a blank card on the turn, everything looked good for
Hawrilenko. However, a king came on the river and sent Hawrilenko to
the rail.
Players continued to hit the rail, including a poker legend Doyle
Brunson. He started his last hand with a raise to 26,000, Scott Dorin
re-raised to 76,000, Brunson Moved all-in for 230,000 more and Dorin
wasn't too pleased but still made the call. Dorin turned over 
and Brunson showed 
. The board came 
and Brunson made his exit in 15th place, receiving loud applause for his performance.
When
the field lost another five players, the remaining nine were moved to
the secondary feature table. Since it was nine-handed play, three
players had to sit out for the triple draw and one player for the stud
variants. Eventually, another player hit the rail, namely Alie Prescott.
With Prescott out, the "official" final table was finally reached.
Ville Wahlbeck was in a slight lead over the others with 1,250,000 in
chips. His closest challengers Scott Dorin and David Chiu held just a
bit over 900,000. The shortest stack at the table was in front of Todd
Brunson.

The turn came , Chiu checked, Seed bet his last 76,000 and Chiu called. Seed turned over while Chiu showed 
. The river came 
and Seed was sent to the rail in fifth place while Chiu's stack rose to 2.5 million.
Mark Gregorich and Scott Dorin were the next two victims of the final
table and the action came down to the final two players, Ville Wahlbeck
and David Chiu. Wahlbeck (pictured right) held a commanding lead of 5,250,000 to 750,000.
Chiu gave his best to fight back, but his attempts were futile and he
was soon left without chips in front of him. In the round of Omaha
Eight-or-better, Chiu was all-in preflop with 
against Wahlbeck's 
.
The flop came 
and Wahlbeck was in a good situation, but thins changed when the turn brought 
. Chiu was in the lead, though not for long. The river came to give the straight to Wahlbeck.
Ville Wahlbeck is a regular on the European Poker Tour and now he has
won his first WSOP bracelet, along with $492,375 in prize money.
Wahlbeck already made it to one final table this week, finishing third
in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud event.
