WSOP Event #22: Jeffrey Carris Wins The Shootout

Day
3 of the Event #22, the $1,500 NLHE Shootout kicked off with the final
table of ten. All players started the day with stacks of 450,000 chips
and it didn't take long for the first players to fall. Mike
Shannon found himself down to 117,000 and decided to move all-in. Jeffrey Carris made the call with and Shannon turned over . The board offered no help to Shannon and he was out in 10th place.

Josh Tieman was the next to hit the rail when his didn't improve
against Jason Sommerville's pocket tens. While most of the players
began the final table from the first hand, Michael McNeil was missing
in action. Nobody knew where he was, but when he finally did show up,
he had to play with one of the shorter stacks at the table through most
of the action. Eventually, he was busted in 8th place.

Eugene Katchalov was another short stack at the table and found a
perfect opportunity to double up in the form of pocket queens. However,
Jeff Carris put him at risk when he made the call with . The board
gave Carris a straight and Katchalov was out in 7th place.

The action continued with a clash between Andrew Margolis and Brandon
Wong. Margolis raised from under the gun to 55,000, Wong swiftly put in
his entire stack of 289,000 and Margolis made the call, turning over . Wong was in great shape with , but a disaster came right away on the flop of . The turn came and with the on the river, it was all over for Brandon Wang while Margolis took the chip lead with 1,550,000.

Margolis claimed another victim shortly after when Joseph Cutler
decided it would be a good idea to raise to 50,000. Margolis re-raised
to 142,000, Cutler pushed all-in for 528,000 more and Margolis called.
Cutler showed while Margolis revealed , the board came and sent Cutler to the rail in 5th place.

Christopher Moore survived most of the troubles at the table, but when
his stack was at about 350,000, he decided to move all-in and hopefully
double up or just pick up the blinds. Jeffrey Carris saw this as an
opportunity to build up his stack and made the call with . Moore showed and the flop was almost pretty good for Moore, revealing . Unfortunately for Moore, a flush was looming over his pair and it came with the on the turn. Moore could still win with a full house, but the river brought and he was out in 4th place.

Andrew Margolis, also known as the menace at the final table, was sent
to the rail by Jeffrey Carris. His land featured Carris holding which was bad news for his . The board offered no help to Margolis and he was out in 3rd place.

The heads-up place took only about 20 minuts before Jeffrey Carris claimed
the shootout title and the WSOP bracelet. The last hand featured Jason
Somerville moving all-in with and Carris making the call with . The board came and Carrs' king high was good enough to earn him the $1,500 NLHE Shootout title.
