WSOP Event #57: Nazgul Defeats Day 5!

Nazgul played entire Day 5 at the featured table of the ESPN. This means you will get to see him play and his hole cards on TV! The shows will be aired between the ending of the Main event and November, when the final table will take place.  Some of the players at his table were: Andy Black, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Joe Hachem and Jeff Shulman. Regardless of the strong table, Nazgul had a very successful day, building his 840,000 stack into a 1,315,000 one.

Besides many top pros, several PokerStrategists also made
it through the day: Nasr hierkommtdiemaus El Nasr built his 668,000, into 1,329,000, while Marco abi0sex Mattes has ended the day with 1,119,000 in chips and Christian opti Heich has a smaller stack  to start the day with - 381,000 chips.

Nazgul (pictured left) started the day with 840,000 in chips. When the day started Nazgul found out he was at the table with some very good players: ElkY, Andy Black, Jeff Shulman etc. That's why the table got moved to the TV table.

Cards went in the air at 12:05 local Vegas time and Nazgul started the day checking out the game, watching how his opponents would react to being on TV, etc. When he felt comfortable at the table, he started opening many hands and took down many small pots. His stack was only going in one direction and that direction was up. Even though he lost some small pots, he usually had the best of it.

Only few big hands were played during the day. Most notable is a hand where Nazgul picks up in middle position. Being comfortable at the table and having a good stack, he raised it pre-flop to 27,000 when the blinds were at 6,000-12,000 when the ante was 2,000.  Jeff Shulman called him from the small blind and they saw a flop heads up. The flop came down and Shulman donks 40,000 into Nazgul, which he in turn smooth called. Turn was a and Shulman now checked it to Nazgul. He bet 80,000 into the pot and Shulman made the call. The river hit all over the place,, and Shulman checked it again. Nazgul bet out 110,000 to get some more value from his hand. Shulman relatively quick made the call and threw his cards into the muck after Nazgul showed him two pair. This was the biggest pot Nazgul played all day.

Nazgul will return to the table Monday at 12:00 Las Vegas time. We don't know which table he will be at yet. There will be live updates starting one hour after the tournament starts on the forum. Watch the news for that!

At the end of the day, Warren Zackey was the one to take the lead, having a stack of 4,872,000 chips, while Kasper Cordes finished in 2nd place with 4,352,000 chips.

Famous pro player that are still in the tournament are: Tom Schneider, Phil Ivey, Fabrice Soulier, Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier, Blair Hinkle, Jeff Shulman, Antonio Esfandiari, Peter Eastgate, Joe Sebok, David Benyamine, Kenny Tran, Prahlad Friedmand, Noah Boeken, Ludovic Lacay and Joe Hachem.

Phil Ivey is doing quite well, as he will start Day 6 with the 45th largest stack (1380,000). As for Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier (pictured right), he is currently ranked 82nd with a stack of 973,000 chips.

Two November Niners are also still hanging on: Dennis Phillips is 78th at the moment (1009,000), while the 2008 Main Event Champion, Peter Eastgate, is ranked 83rd with 927,000 chips.

David Benyamine finished the day in 101st place and will be seen at the tables tomorrow starting with 764,000 in starting chips, while Joe Hachem will begin Day 6 with 540,000 chips.
