WSOP Event#57: The Main Event Day 1B

A total of 873 players showed up for Day 1B of the WSOP Main Event .
The action started with a bit less big names at the featured tables
compared to Day 1A, but the number of top pros seen in the field was
still more than enough to make any amateur proud to make it through the
day side by side with likes of Greg Raymer, Shaun Deeb, Joe Sebok, Alex
Kravchenko, Amarillo "Slim" Preston and others.

Mike "The Mouth" Matusow took his seat at the main feature
table, while Doyle Brunson was spotted at the secondary feature table
in the early stages of play. Jack Ury also showed up for the Main
Event, thus breaking his own record as the oldest participant ever to
play in the WSOP Main Event - he is 96 years old and still going strong.

As it has been with many previous events in this year's WSOP, players
have found yet another tricky situation for the tournament floor staff
to solve. However, this time the problem was not in someone possibly
breaking the rules, but in Jack's Links Four-of-a-kind Jacks Promotion.
This promotion awards any player who makes quad jacks with a Jack Links
sack of meaty treats worth around $100.

Chris Moneymaker (pictured left) found himself in a situation in which the flop at his
table brought three jacks, so naturally he started to wonder what would
happen if a fourth jack was dealt on the board and whether all the
players in the hand would be eligible to win the Jack's Link prize
pack.

The tournament floor staff replied to Moneymaker, "Well, only the player with four of a kind jacks would receive the prize..." Moneymaker quickly added, "But we'd all have four of a kind," and the floor staff confirmed, "Well...yes...you are right. Those players with live cards would be eligible for the prize."

Even though he successfully solved a possible Jack's Link promotion issue,
Moneymaker couldn't find his way through the day and eventually had to
admit defeat, same as Doyle Brunson. Meanwhile, Greg Raymer managed to
end the day with a decent stack of 43,750 chips despite starting the day
quite badly - running into quads, being forced to fold hands in big
pots, Raymer survived it all.

Besides Raymer, other notables who will return for Day 2 are Shaun Deeb (55,100), Amarillo "Slim" Preston (48,075), Hoyt Corkins (45,325), Luca Pagano (40,125), Mike Matusow (37,875), Todd Brunson (32,950)
and many more.
