WSOP U-Turn on vloggers sees content creators reward program launched

The World Series of Poker will now offer thousands of dollars in buy-ins and cash for top content creators.

The growth of the poker content creator is a global phenomenon. Poker vloggers who share their efforts at the felt or bring live events into fans’ electronic devices have never been more popular. From Caitlin Comeskey’s comedy skits to Ryan DePaulo’s degenerate gambler videos, award-winning content has even stretched to our own Barry Carter’s reworking classic memes receiving a Global Poker Award.

The WSOP, now under the innovative ownership of GGPoker, will now reward content creators in the form of big event buy-ins and the best reward of all - cold, hard cash.

Working with YouTube, the WSOP launched their reward program this week in a bid to reward those streamers, vloggers and content creators who share WSOP content on their channels. The brand-new scheme aligns with GGPoker’s new 'streaming mode’ that rewards streamers and even helps them develop their channels. The WSOP will now reward content creators who promote their brand as part of their output.

This latest development by the WSOP has raised eyebrows, certainly among those who saw opportunities restricted at times during the most recent 56th annual WSOP, where filming at the tables was banned.

A whole host of benefits are on offer to participating vloggers. There’s a minimum subscriber level of 5,000 that could reward creators with tickets to Circuit Ring events worth up to $3,000, while the Elite Vlogger tier - creators with more than 250,000 subscribers - pays out with a customised annual package and exclusive benefits tailored to their profile.

Creators must be over 18 and put out a minimum of 60% of their content around poker to earn the rewards, which include entries into bracelet events such as those at the forthcoming 2025 WSOP Paradise festival. Views are important too, with 1 million views worth a $5,000 bonus, while 2.5 million views equate to a $10,000 payout.

Creators must stick to certain rules, such as making a minimum of three separate episodes totalling at least 30 minutes and aren’t allowed to feature other sponsors or wear poker-branded apparel promoting other brands, even if those deals are already in place. This could place Coin Poker players such as Ryan DePaulo, Frankie C. Poker and Corey Eyring in the spotlight, with Frankie C and Eyring both featured in official promotional material this week.

DePaulo alone has 125,000 subscribers already and regularly features the WSOP in his content:

Daniel Negreanu, who shares daily vlogs during the WSOP on YouTube as ‘DNegsPoker’, is not only the face of GGPoker but also one of WSOP’s biggest ever players and is sure to inspire thousands of potential poker streamers to put their content to use.
