WSOPC New Orleans: Jean Gaspard Victorious

Final table of the WSOPC Championship event at New Orleans saw the final nine players returning to the table and it was Jean Gaspard, the chip leader from Day 2, who took the title.

New OrleansThe WSOP Circuit Championship event at New Orleans came to an end with
the final table featuring Jean Gaspard continuing his hot streak from
Day 2, when he dominated the field and climbed into the chip lead.

Gaspard started the final day of the tournament by cracking pocket aces
on the very first hand. With action at the table increasing, Kurt
Scheer and Kenny Milam were the first to pack their bags.

Justin Allen was quite successful in last December, winning the Winter
Bayou Poker Challenge main event, but this time his stack ran dry and
he finished in 7th place. Anita Vasquez was the last player to enter
this tournament, earning her seat in a single table satellite on the
morning of Day 1.

She survived through Day 2 to become the last woman still in the hunt
for the title and she was doing quite well at the final table with the
little chips she had, but her short-stack wasn't enough to carry her
further from 6th place.

With Dan Walsh making his exit in 5th place, the play came down to the
final four players and the name of the game quickly became small-ball
poker, as the smaller stacks tried to move up in an attempt to reach
Jean Gaspard. After almost three hours, Steven McKoy tried to make a
move with suited connectors, but instead of doubling up, he was shown
his way out after he ran into Ken Cristopher's A-J, which got improved
by two more aces on the flop.

The poker ended with McKoy leaving the table and the final three went
into negotiations and once they agreed, the tournament was over. Jean
Gaspard took the title and received the 2009 WSOP Main Event seat and
the Circuit Championship along with it.
