WSOPE Event #1: Laak in Final Table, Thorsten77 and swordfish007 ITM
The final table of the first event in the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe was set after Day 2 with Phil Laak being the most notable name there. Two PokerStrategists made the money before busting out in 9th and 24th place.
31 players started Day 2 and just 6 remain with Andrew Pantling and Chris Bjorin still holding on to their top two positions on the chip standings. Both Andrew "luckychewy" Lichtenberger and Jeff Lisandro however, missed out of the money as they hit the rails early on in the second day.
Meanwhile, the other notables who have already busted out are Chris Moorman in 11th place, Praz Bansi in 12th place and Liv Boeree in 16th place. PokerStrategist Manig "swordfish007" Loeser (pictured right) finished ninth and picked up £12,902 while Team PokerStrategy.com member 
Thorsten77 was 24th and earned £5,624.
swordfish007 comes back from the brink
In his final hand, Thorsten77 shoved for 20 big blinds with 
but ran into Peter Wood's 
. The turn brought Thorsten77 an open ended straight draw, but it did not complete on the river and our player was sent packing.
swordfish007 meanwhile staged a comeback of sorts as he was the shortest stack with just over 12 big blinds on the bubble. Not only did he get into the money, he also came close to making the final table.
In the second last hand of his event, he lost a race with 
against 
after calling the 4-bet shove of his French opponent Vincent Dalet. An ace came on the flop and the hand was pretty much over. With just over 20,000 chips after that, swordfish007 pushed all in on the button with 
but could not improve as Phil Laak sent him to the rails with
