High Stakes Action: Ziigmund Gets almost $500k from Townsend
On Thursday, Brian Townsend found himself playing $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha against Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies. However, the session did not end well for Townsend, as he lost $482k in just 242 hands.
While Antonius was at last making some progress against Tom "durrrr" Dwan in the durrrr Challenge, Brian Townsend suffered a loss from Ziigmund at the same stakes, PLO $200/$400.
A relatively short session of 242 hands saw Ziigmund making around $2,000 for every hand played. In one hand, the Finnish pro had flopped the nut straight while Townsend made two pair on the turn. All the money went in at that point, and Ziigmund won $226,796 as the river changed nothing.
Ziigmund calls Townsend down for $126k
In the other main pot of the day, Ziigmund called Townsend's preflop 3-bet and hit second pair on the flop. Townsend chose the wrong time to bet all three streets and Ziigmund, having made two pair on the river, was able to pick off the bluff to take a further $63,000 of Townsend's money.
