Termi8r's Road Continues!

After a break from SSS poker due to some more important issues - Termi8r is back on track and continuing his blog report with his progress.

The last two weeks have been very busy because I got married last Saturday. It was all about suits, décor, photos, flowers, food and the list goes on. But I’m back now and ready to continue with my project. For my bachelor’s party I had to collect some money in a funny suit - I went around to a few pubs and managed to collect about $25 in about an hour. One unfortunate guy was sitting at a slot machine and in my intoxicated state I told him that he could either give the money to the machine or to me. I did manage to play a bit and my bankroll is sitting at $200.

So far I have learned that SSS is a simple strategy where you have a small edge over your opponents. After you play MANY (>100k) hands you will see some profit. While playing this strategy you may experience some major swings and patience is really important. Tilting and a mistake here or there will completely destroy any winnings you get from following the strategy. Tilting is a really big factor because you play very few hands against your initial tendencies, and when you lose with “unbeatable” hands like AA it can be very frustrating. The basics of SSS should yield some profit up to NL25 at least with the odd blind steal against very tight opponents. Playing with scripts to organize your tables and tracking software like Elephant is a nice bonus and will become more important as you play higher limits. I’m sure this is old news to the regular users but new guys just starting out might not know this.

I started with some simple mathematical calculations for SSS situations that I don’t feel confident with. For example: pushing with AK after missing the flop. I have done some calculations and posted my homework in my blog - please feel free to comment on where I could improve my analysis.

In the coming weeks I will try to play as many hands as possible and continue with my equity analysis in different SSS situations. I will post some of these in my blog.
