English Community Round-up

Welcome to the news round-up for the English Community. Each week, we will keep you in touch with some of the most important threads within the forum together with some of the fun posts, so that you never need to miss them.

Our
Community round-up is your weekly source for all that happens inside
the PokerStrategy forums. If you missed something last week and you
still want to be in touch with our community, here are some of the most
important posts. This is just one of many community-related projects
being set up.

Poker Blog of the week

A relatively new blog caught the eye this week. Community member revlis's blog "From a cook boy to a millionaire!" has made a very nice start and is a great read.
With nicely detailed objectives (a receipe for success) with some nice pictures too, we all wish revlis the very best for the journey ahead. Let's hope he can cook on a few heaters along the way.

performances of the week

Our community amassed winnings of $7,369.46 this week, well played
everyone.

Congratulations to all our winners/other performances, which included:

  • erptech was runner up in the 888 (Gold) Freeroll picking up $600;
  • fongie owned the Early Doubles cashing in both tournaments twice within 3 days;
  • jadhu cashed in a PokerStars tournament;
  • gamer135 cashed in a Cake tournament, narrowly missing their first final table (well played, final table next time maybe);
  • Final table for fiftyshuffle;
  • Multiple cashes for stiansk, hoffee, termi8r & alejandrosh amongst others.

Sorry I cannot name everyone each week, but I'll try to pick up a
selection of different people each time. Keep posting those wins in this thread.

It is now very close to the end of the 'year' after
tribuncaesar first set up this $1,000,000
challenge for us. We have until the 10th of August to achieve this
target or get as close as possible to it, we are over the $600k figure with a current total
of $617,497.66.

spotlight on

Spotlight this week on community member snodreliss, interviewed by eaglestar88.

PokerStrategy: Hi snodreliss welcome and thanks for agreeing to an interview for the community.

snodreliss: Thank you for interviewing me 🙂

PokerStrategy: Tell us a little bit about yourself

snodreliss: Hello, I'm a 20 years old student from Norway. I study photojournalism in a small city or no-man's-land><, but in the summer I live at my parents home in a nice little city along the coast and work for a newspaper (and obv play poker).

PokerStrategy: Is there a story behind the nickname, does it have any special meaning?

snodreliss: Well, my name is Sondre, so it's kind of a spelling error I randomly wrote when we played DotA at college, and so there was my nick. But usually I just write snodre.

PokerStrategy: How long have you been playing poker? How did you first start in poker?

snodreliss: Almost two years. A friend of me played some SnG's at Stars when we had a really boring lesson at college. I thought it looked like a fun game and I deposited 20$ at Stars and played some 3$ SnG's. Obv I didn't even know the rules and was like. WTF!? Did I lose with TP against TP better kicker, we had the same pair!? I think I lost those 20$ after about 40 SnG's 🙂

PokerStrategy: How would you describe your poker style?

snodreliss: Loose maniac, but I never bluff so fold to my third barrel! :-]

PokerStrategy: Ahh good to know. 🙂 Which variants are you currently playing and at what levels?

snodreliss: I play NL HU up to NL200. I recently try some few hands of FLHU at 3/6 which I think I should stop doing.. ^^

PokerStrategy: Do you ever play any live events, or are you mainly online based?

snodreliss: Only live with friends for like 2-20$ SnG's. That's just for fun and social. When I play online I play to make money.

PokerStrategy: If you had to have a theme tune to enter a poker tournament to (like boxers when they enter the ring), what would it be?

snodreliss: Salive with Raise Up.

PokerStrategy: Can you remember what happened to the PokerStrategy $50? Did you lose it early on or is it still in your current bankroll somewhere?

snodreliss: I got it at fulltilt and started playing nl10sss. But was obv playing it bad, although I got it up to 95$ before I was down to ~20$ or something.. Then I did read the articles and started playing at pokerstars with some dollars I had there and got it up to 160$ before switching to nl5 bss. About half a year later I donked those dollars at fulltilt away. But then I had a roll of 1k or something. 😀

PokerStrategy: Nice. Who is your favourite poker pro and why?

snodreliss: Durrrr, because he is just so sick maniac. And I love it:D

PokerStrategy: What has been your biggest success/achievement in poker so far?

snodreliss: Not much in MTT's but I almost never play them. I think I got 6th place for 600-700$ or something.
But managing to make a roll big enough for playing nl200 and beat the limit (at least HU) was my dream when I started playing nl5 bss. And here I am making money so I don't need to take a bank loan to pay for my school that is pretty sick.

PokerStrategy: Yes indeed. If you had the opportunity of playing a final table with a selection of people of your choice (doesn't have to necessarily be poker players, anyone past or present), who would be seated there with you?

snodreliss: All my friends that think I'm just a big gambler and think I will lose all my money soon. SHIP IT!

PokerStrategy: What do you like most about PokerStrategy?

snodreliss: That it's free, you don't need to risk any of your own money to learn and later win money by playing a card game.

PokerStrategy: Do you have a favourite blog that you are currently following?

snodreliss: Poker Brothers II: That's it, we're going PRO!! is pretty cool.

PokerStrategy: What advice would you give to our newer members just starting out in poker for the first time?

snodreliss: Just study the game, and don't think about money first. The money will come when you play good. Although it might take a year, then so be it..

PokerStrategy: Wise words. Is there anyone in particular from the community you'd like to give a shout out to?

snodreliss: vargan because he's mainly the only one I talk to at least once a week, and alexd10 who I have tried to coach a little in HU, don't give up dude!

PokerStrategy: Do you have any hobbies outside of poker?

snodreliss: Yeah! Ofc I take alot of photos and as physical activity I do something called bike trial, which I don't expect many to know exact what is. But it's really fun!

PokerStrategy: Ah off road cycling yeah? Extreme 🙂 If money was no object, what would you buy?

snodreliss: A telepathy machine ^^,

PokerStrategy: What really bugs you in life, what do you get annoyed at most?

snodreliss: Oh, people that want attention all the time and only get it when they kind of hit you in the head or have to say something bad to a person.. Get a life...
(and the food at school, OMG!.)

PokerStrategy: Ewe college dinners, yeah, best avoided, fish & chips ftw. Well thank you for doing this interview snodreliss, you've given us all a great insight into the person behind the nickname and we're very grateful for you taking the time out to talk to us today. We wish you continued success with your poker and look forward to seeing you in the forum and on the green felt soon.

snodreliss: Np, GL at the tables, but don't bust the fish, I want those at my table.
