How husky333 crushed the Bankroll Challenge
We chat to a player who just completed the Bankroll Challenge while blogging about his goals in both our English and Czech communities.

Poker as a nice extra income
Congrats on completing your Bankroll Challenge goal of getting from $500 to $2,500. Tell us a little bit about the man behind the screen name.
husky333: Thanks. I live a short distance from Olomouc. I am married with a four and a six year old. I'm in the business of buying and selling.
Poker is not your main source of income, so how often do you play?
husky333: Poker is more or less a hobby, until the second half of this year, where it turned out to be a pleasant secondary source of income. Because of family, work and other hobbies I only play at night and try to play four times a week. I started playing poker a long time ago, before Hold'em was popular. Me and the guys at work would play Five Card Draw. Hold'em I started playing for the first time on the iPoker sometime in 2003 and then PokerStars in 2004.
On iPoker and PokerStars I played weekend freerolls, then a few years later, I deposited some money and played DoNs and 90-mans. Then when I won some money, I played more, and I discovered PokerStrategy about 2.5 years ago. Before then I didn't even know that poker could be studied, or about things like Bankroll Management.
husky333 on the Bankroll Challenge
My message to all players of the Bankroll Challenge is to not be afraid to join, no matter where your Bankroll begins. It is great to compare statistics with other players and it increases the motivation for playing and studying.
Conquering the Bankroll Challenge
From there, how did you improve your game?
husky333: The thing that helped the most was becoming a member of the coaching/staking community under the guidance of a Serbian SNG coach. After a year, I tried a number of formats, but was mostly break even. However when I looked at Sharkscope, I found that the only a variant where I didn't lose was SNGMTTS. So I started playing them, watching videos and study materials etc.
You are the first Czech player to complete the Bankroll Challenge, did that mean a lot?
husky333: It made me personally very happy that I managed to quintuple my Bankroll. However, some of my predecessors in the Cornie Challenge have managed to build a Bankroll from $50 to $10k, so I don't claim too much glory.
You can also do a $50 to $10k challenge next, will we see another Challenge?
husky333: Right now I will take a break until after Christmas as I have a lot of work, but in January I would like to rejoin with at least a $5,000 Challenge.

"I don't want to be a pro"
You will still be playing poker right? Would you ever want to go pro?
husky333: In November and December, I'll be really happy if I can play a few tournaments on Saturday or Sunday just for fun.
I have a great job that I enjoy. I work from home and I am my own boss. My time is my own, I can sleep longer in the morning and catch up at night. So poker as a main source of income is not appealing, but the money is.
What would you say to players who are thinking about entering the Bankroll Challenge?
husky333: Don't be afraid to join, no matter where your Bankroll begins. It is great to compare statistics with other players and it increases the motivation for playing and studying.
Thanks husky333, enjoy your break from poker.
