Why you should ramp up the aggression after late registration

The field plays too tight when they can no longer rebuy, and that is a reason to take some risks before the bubble.

I'm a big advocate of late registering tournaments, but I could do a better job of discussing what to do after late regging.

When the late registration period ends, there is already a reasonable about of ICM influencing the action.

Despite that, a good meta strategy is to play more aggressively than ICM would dictate straight after late reg ends.

Take risks for a big stack on the bubble

The bubble is starting to loom, so people have one eye on the prize. In addition, most players tighten up because they can no longer rebuy. They take their tournament life more seriously. This is especially true in live tournaments.

The same players will invariably get short as the bubble arrives, and therefore will have to play much tighter because of ICM. 

It's such an advantage being a big stack on the bubble, and a great way to get a big stack is playing more aggressively when late reg closes. It's worth taking a few risks as soon as you enter the tournament.

It sucks to late reg then bust right away, but my advice is to come out blasting the moment you arrive.
