Vanessa Selbst: "I didn't really play my A-game in side events in the past"
The US Team PokerStars Pro talks in this exclusive audio interview about the past 12 months, the difficulty of being focused and how to handle second place finishes.

2013 was the second best year in the poker career of Vanessa Selbst which saw her win more than $2.6 million in live events.
Selbst started the year with a victory at the Super High Roller Event at the PCA ($1.4 million) and had a great result at WPT Borgata, where she came second ($492.000).

Tobias Frey talked to her at the European Poker Tour in Prague:
"I think it's less about years and more about circles. In the very beginning of May it certainly didn't feel like an amazing year. Except my PCA success I really had no other cashes, it was like I was bricking every single tournament, I was feeling like a total failure."
She also revealed that it was pretty hard for her to focus on side events with lower buy-ins:
"In the past if I had played side events I didn't really play my A-game - I did massive spewes because I was playing like a $2k event and I didn't really care about it."
Selbst married her girlfriend in 2013 and in the interview she talked about the difficulties as a poker pro travelling around the world and leaving your family at home.
