British poker players who are considering using illegal methods to gain an advantage at the table are being warned to think again by the House of Lords.
The gathering of parliamentary peers recently tackled the issue of match-fixing and decided to push for a 10 year prison sentence for anyone found making suspect bets online.
The legal amendment was put forward by Lord Moynihan who wants to punish all forms of online "cheating at gambling" - a definition which includes poker - with a lengthy prison term.
If such a law is passed then it could affect not only British colluders and scammers, but cheaters across the world if other countries decide to follow suit.
The death of poker
"Poker is dying" according to Joe Hachem and it's all because of Jamie Gold and Jerry Yang. The Australian former World Champion recently spoke to Bluff about what he believes is the demise of the modern game.
During the five minute assessment Hachem outlined his discontent with recent WSOP champions and how the stoic demeanour of younger players is causing the game to be less enjoyable for everyone.
Although he does suggest that some players are now working to improve their table presence, he fears that the poker industry could be heading for a major downswing.

Chris Moorman continued to prove his online superiority recently after clinching his 20th Triple Crown.
The accolade came after the British pro banked a $27,400 victory on Sunday to complete his third MTT win in the space of seven days.
Although the amount of money he won might not change his life, the prestige of his 20th Triple Crown certainly wasn't lost on Moorman or his peers who could only marvel and ask "how the hell does he do it?"
Moorman's latest Triple Crown not only takes him way beyond his closest rival ('Belabacsi' - 11 titles), but pushes his online winnings to an impressive $10,707,668.
Aussie Millions update
The Aussie Millions continued rumble on over the last 24 hours and whilst Day 1B came to a close with Dean Schneider on top, today's session has seen 328 players take to the felt and the likes of Ole 'olekonjole' Schemion move to the top of the chip counts.
Whilst the Main Event was finishing off its preliminary sessions, Max Altergott locked up $241,785 after a five-way chop with Martin Jacobson ($285,921), Dan Smith ($278,414), Scott Seiver ($265,538) and Jason Mercier ($263,342) in the $25,000 Challenge.
Despite Altergott receiving the smallest cut of the money he was happy to push the pace and, after the players agreed to increase the blinds after every orbit, he watched as his opponents fell before his 
ousted Dan Smith and his pocket sixes.

'forhayley' topped the latest high stakes chart after playing just 71 hands. The online pro managed to race to the top of the leaderboard ahead of 'BrynKenney' and 'Crazy Elior' after scooping $84,096.
Finding himself on the wrong side of variance in the last 24 hours and logging off from his computer with a five-figure loss was Alexander 'PostflopAction' Kostritsyn. The Russian grinder dropped $86,058 over the course of 327 hands to finish the day ahead of 'jannissen1" and 'joiso'.
