When most parents find out that their son or daughter has chosen a life of variance and bad beats it can often generate a look of disapproval.
However, if you're the father of Isaac Haxton then it's a different story and one his father, Brooks Haxton, wanted to tell.
The English professor and poet has followed Isaac's career from his early troubles (he had $800,000 frozen by Neteller after the 2007 PCA) to his recent successes and now he's written a book about it.
Entitled Fading Hearts on the River: My Son's Life in Poker, the book recounts Isaac's life and what it's like for a father watching his son play for millions of dollars.
According to a blurb on Amazon, the piece offers a "unique perspective on professional gambling and one family's experience of playing the odds".
Afriat dominating WPT finale

Yesterday's third WPT World Championship session saw Eric Afriat top the chip chart for the second day in a row and 18 players move one step closer to the $1.3 million top prize.
Whilst the likes of Phil Hellmuth and Jeff Madsen fell short on Day 3, Afriat raked in more than 2 million chips to lead the likes of Anthony Gregg, Abe Korotki and Justin Young into Day 4.
Having already taken down the WPT Hard Rock Seminole Poker Showdown this season, Afriat looks like the man to beat going into the penultimate day.
However, with WPT luminaries such as Tony Dunst, Keven Stammen and Ryan D'Angelo all still holding chips, Afriat's route to Saturday's finale certainly won't be a smooth one.

For those of you familiar with the online world's most volatile players the name Marcelo 'urubu111' Freire will conjure up images of a man who doesn't mind flipping stacks for $200,000+.
Known for his mixture of degeneracy and skill, the Brazilian PLO specialist is always entertaining to watch and earlier this week he decided to set-up a $40,000 volume challenge.
Posting on 2+2, Marcelo is aiming to play 500,000 PLO hands in 45 days (at stakes of $1/$2, $2/$4 and $3/$6) and to win the bet he must finish at least $0.01 in profit.
Willing bettors are being offered odds of 2:1 in Marcelo's favour and the minimum wager he is willing to accept is $200 (versus his $100).
Throughout the post he outlined some rules for the challenge and so far the likes of Christian "Charder30" Harder and 'Sira Al Aziz" have bet a combined $25,000 against the action junkie.

With many of the world's best cash grinders currently trying to make their mark in the MTT world, the door was left open for 'Yoghii' to top the latest high stakes leaderboard. The online grinder managed to rake in $139,852 last night to finish comfortably ahead of Ola Amundsgard and Patrik Antonius.
Suffering the biggest defeat of the day after a 1,393-hand session was Viktor Blom. Following a short break from the virtual felt, the Swede resumed his grind yesterday but failed to turn a profit and logged off as the day's biggest loser with a $203,499 deficit.
