After a longer than expected session on Tuesday, the final throes of action in this year's $1 million One Drop event passed by at a much swifter pace today.
Indeed, despite nine players starting Day 3 (and the bubble very much in force), it took just under six hours for Daniel Colman to emerge victorious.
A relative newcomer to the live scene - his first major score was back in April when he won the EPT Super High Roller for $2.1 million - Colman was able to parlay his 22,625,000 starting stack into a title winning haul after defeating Daniel Negreanu heads-up.
Swift bubble, tense final showdown
The day's action started with nine players still in contention, but instead of a tense standoff it took just one hand for Tom Hall to become the unfortunate bubble boy.
After moving all-in with pocket tens Hall found himself in trouble after Negreanu called with ![]()
and caught enough of the board to send his opponent home empty-handed.
Hall's demise put everyone in the money - including Paul Newey who only had six big blinds - and as the eliminations began in earnest it wasn't long before the rail was littered with world-class players.
With the likes of Cary Katz, Scott Seiver and Tobias 'pokernoob' Reinkemeier all now a distant memory, Negreanu and Colman were able to take charge, but by the time Rick Salomon and Christoph Vogelsang had been eliminated it was the latter that held the lead.
Heads-up the rail was split over who had the edge - Colman is a heads-up specialist who plays under the handle 'mrgr33n13' and Daniel Negreanu is, well, Daniel Negreanu - but as the action developed it was Colman who gained the upper-hand.
Despite losing his lead at one point the American gradually worked his way back into contention before and all-in coup helped seal the most impressive win of his career.

from the small blind, Colman made the call with ![]()

Fortunately, the
on the turn swung the advantage back in Colman's favour and as the
landed on the river he was shipped the final pot, his first WSOP bracelet and $15,306,668.
For Negreanu an $8,288,001 consolation prize meant he is now the biggest money winner of all-time ahead of Antonio Esfandiari.
