Hi guys,

I have an Acer Aspire 5610 notebook that drive a window XP (compatible Vista) and because the latest news from Microsoft that has decide to do not support anymore the old Window XP, I have decide to try to install Window 7 despite the clear advice to go up max to Vista and that because I have a disc for W7 and do not want spent money on another operative system like Vista that soon will follow the same destiny of XP.

So, to do not take too long, I have manage to install the window and everything went fine, the PC responding very well to the new OS and seem fine but unfortunately I have encounter few problems that despite the time I have dedicated to that (2 days by now) Im still unable to sort out the matter

I wonder if there is any1 that may helps

I cannot install the following driver (or even if I install them doesnt seem to work after all)

- PCI FLASM memory
- Acer Orbi-Cam

help please?
TY :)

Hi, kiromanAAKK...

First the easy things...
Are you running as an administrator? If not, make sure that any software installation is done from an account with administrator privileges.
Drivers are very specific about two things: 1 -- the OS they run on, and 2 -- the hardware they control. Make sure that the drivers you are installing are for your specific hardware, and make sure that the drivers are for Windows 7.

It might even make a difference if it is Windows 7 pro or home edition (not likely, but worth checking).

Does the event viewer give you any clues as to why the driver won't work?

It may be necessary to go to the manufacturers' websites and look for updated drivers.

Best of luck,

Hi, and thanks for your time!
Well, my apology as sometime I think peoples are in my head and can read my mind and in fact, when I said, I have been for 2 days I haven't specify that means I have been threw already everything listed and found out that my Aspire is update to Vista so, no software and drivers are available for window 7 at moment but some1 was told me that maybe Vista drivers may be good.
So, I was wondering if any1 with the same system may been threw all that and eventually sort somehow!

Thanks again and have a good day! :)

I mean, the camera is there and is functional as was working fine just an instant before with a different OS

it must be a way to make work again, right?

Same for the PCI FLASH memory (that's also more important in a way), it was there ...

I wonder, if with a bit of time, window may be fix that with the updates

TY :)

What is the model # of the notebook?

Is there a later model in the same range that uses the same camera that had W7 -- I'm guessing that the driver for that model would work.

Any chance the manufacturer of the camera (or flash memory) has the driver?

At work, we mix and match drivers from different models with HP systems, it might work for Acer also.

At home, I download my video card drivers direct from nVidia, since they work way better than the ones from the card manufacturer.

Just some thoughts...

Best of luck,
