totally unknown in SB, very first hand in the session

PokerStars - $0.10 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $33.30 (VPIP: 16.67, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 6)
SB: $19.52
Hero (BB): $10.00
UTG: $20.05
MP: $22.86
CO: $12.60 (VPIP: 14.71, PFR: 11.76, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 36)

SB posts SB $0.05, Hero posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.15) Hero has 6♠ A♣

fold, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to $0.27, Hero raises to $0.81, fold

Hero wins $0.54

I created an account on GTO Wizard to see what that tool suggests.

Some observations:
:diamond:  The wizard would never fold A6o BB v SB 3BB raise. Really? Ace-rag plays so poorly postflop even in position, esp vs aggro opponents.
:diamond:  I know I fold too much, In fact I almost never flat call, but GTO seems to suggest flatting a lot.

What do more experienced NL Hold'em players do?

Of course this is the range specifically vs the gto sb open range that goes along with this one. If the sb is opening less wide, the bb range would be less wide. I wonder what more experienced players do too. The solver knows when to fold TPWK or WPTK, and when to call. I probably don't.

Solvers assume players are playing sensibly.
In SB my RFI is 32%, and my fold to 3Bet is 89%.
The GTO Wizard has SB open raising 37%, so just on my own I'm doing that much.
OTOH, it has 11% flat — I never limp.

Also, I pretty much never flat-call preflop. The exception is pocket pairs 22 - 99

My SB RFI happens to be 37.22 :f_tongue: But, I also never openlimp. Something I can add to my game still perhaps (some people are 3bet-happy BvsB).

Basically when first-in you can rely perfectly on the solver's range right? It is when people start playing back with a non-solver range when you should adapt your response-range.

In general I would not advice open limping SB at least in omaha side cash because rake is fairly high on small/mid stake games. Also population in general is likely overfolding BB. Like in here BB is supposed to defend close to 60% but how often is that the case?

Over the 100K hands I played previously at rush my RFI from SB was 39.20% with a success rate of 61.82%!

(stole = steal success%)

At nl10 I open to $0.28 from the SB, and that needs 0.23/(0.05+0.10+0.23) = 60.5% equity.

So "they" even fold enough to make immediate profit with the preflop raise.

But, among "them" are some specific players in the pool that really like to 3bet BvsB. I expect them to raise a lot when I limp and fold too scarcely when I raise, but 3bet or float a lot. Against them I might start to limp if I get a better view of who they are. But you make a good point about the rake of course to not incorporate this in my default play.

yea im big fan of not 3betting pre as everyone does that alot, so why not call pre and put the opp in tough post-flop spot. weak Ax is a nice hand to 3bet though, so i think either call or 3bet is fine. let's say you call and flop comes A22, you can tank for few seconds and "float" and let him barrel his K8... but vs unknown 3bet is nice i think. only thing against is that they love to play back alot vs 3bets, and by openraising he has shown some strength already.
