I prefer the 3Bet myself, although I usually 3Bet 3x — so 7.5 or 8 in this case.
If you call the 4Bet, you need to hit well, since you're behind AK and all pocket pairs.
What is your own 3Bet stat like? If you think that this might be a 4-Bet bluff, you could shove, but that is maniac-ish

I'm not ever folding AQo to a 4Bet pre unless I know that the opponent is a total nit.
So I guess that the best play is to call and see a flop.

Out of position 4x 3bet seems plenty. You get pretty insane odds to call the 4bet, but out of position it's hard to fight back. Folding is indeed fine.

Theory-wise, what will actually happen if you 3bet this hand pre? Not many good things. Well yes he could fold his Q5s, but usually people are very suspicious against 3bets and play back. Theory-wise, let's say you call preflop instead of 3betting and the flop comes Axx or Qxx. Now you have a perfectly disguised hand as he doesn't put you on AJ+ as you just called pre. So it depends on the opponent if you want to 3bet pre at all, vs this opponent I could maybe even just call, as he looks like the type who starts to play back in position, making your life tough.
