Villain is a reg.
I don't think he had a set because most likely he would have raised either on the flop or turn to build the pot.
Another straight seems unlikely given my check/raise on the flop.
So I think he could have A♥:J♥: or another A♥:x combination in this spot most likely.
I don't know between check/calling or bet/folding was the best options on this river.
And maybe even my laydown was too big on this spot and I had to still calldown.
What do you guys think?
Yucky spot OTR, but I think that the problem comes from not betting the turn large enough.
If opponent really does have a flush draw, and is a calling station, they'll never fold, which in the long run is good.
When the flush gets there, though, it is a fold, since opponent apparently plays fairly few hands.
It would be great is some hold'em experts give their opinions though -- I don't play it that much
na think hand was played fine just unlucky. Raise on turn is about 77% pot witch is fine, maybe just check call if villain bet 50% or less on river. but it looks like you went with a little blocker bet kinda with 1/2 pot, if you go blocker bet you want closer to 1/3 pot sizing.
The turn Cbet seems rather big than to small I think. it's a 3/4 pot Cbet.
Normal i would go for a round half pot turn cbet with in mind you block some flush draws as well.
River is a little bit villain depended if I would call or not. It's really tough to fold the straight with in mind you have 1 
in your hand.

IMO it isnβt that bad of a check raise flop, as you do need some bluffs, and he does get a little lucky with the 9 and no heart to come to give him the nutz. I mean there are better, but you need to have a small amount of your c/r range be not always nutted hands. IMO.

You are right, we need some bluffs in our raise range, but agree with SamoB25, I would put open enders into my calling range. The reason is that IMO when we got reraised, itβs an awkward situation and we have to fold too often.
I would choose weaker hands into my bluff raise range, which I can fold easily if villain reraises or push.
For example suited bacdoor flush draws with blockers (AdTd, AdJd), offsuit nut backdoor flush draws with blockers (AhT, AhJ), GS + BD FD (here they are the same as the first category), 2nd or worse pair with BD FD (we probably have some Qx of diamonds in our BB calling range vs. 2,5x BTN open), or 2nd or worse pair with BD SD (QJ, QT, J8, T8, Q9, 98).
I tend to check/raise my draws in this spot also to counter cbet as well, because I know he has a bunch of air. If he calls I can barrel other scary cards on turn and river as well.

What do you consider a scary turn card in this spot?
If you check-raise T9 on a 873 board, you get called and a K or Q comes of and you barrel it looks like that K/Q didn't scare you, you look quite strong.
I'm not sure exactly which turn card could come here that would really scare villain & I would happily 2nd barrel on...
Think this play is fine. I would overbet the turn. Setup stacks for the river and price his flush draws.
