Hi guys . lately i have run in to the hard part of poker . i have missed most of my flops and if i have hit the flop someone have hit it better
i have missed close to any draws and outs . and when i have had premium starting hands it have been a fold all the way arround the table
my occasionally bluffs have been caught and things just continued like this . my sets have been killed by better sets my 2 pair destroyed by bigger 2 pair lost most of my so called coin flips
you get the idea . and i have not felt like tilting all the way trough and have mannaged to not loose much in this time .
but as it seems to continue im starting to feel the tilt is creeping up on me . not to the point where i have just rage all in or made some donk bluff or anything like that i can just feel the tilt in a way that i feel unsure when i actually have a strong hand so i might not get the most value out of my hands when i win them because im afraid that im beaten once again .

im writing this in hope to get some advice on how to overcome this in the best way and of course how to keep the loss on a minimum until things start to go my way again . so any advice would be most apreciated :f_thumbsup:

You need a shift in your mind. Instead of all these negative thoughts, you need to really want to play the game again and really want to perform well at the tables. You need to feel comfortable in your mind and want to beat yourself, become better. Actually this might boil down to having passion for the game again.

How do you get there? To each it's own. What often works for me is listening to podcasts about poker on spotify or youtube. I like the ones from James 'SplitSuit' Sweeney myself. I don't know what would work for you.

And when you are back wanting to play again, probably take a look at your game as well, after giving it some time.

Okay maybe not a lot of advice, but you said any advice, so ...

Well put, Stackoffski.
I would add to that some others:
:diamond:  Read "The Mental Game of Poker" by Jared Tendler and Barry Carter. Well don't just read it -- read it and do what it says  :diamond:  One hand at a time.
:diamond:  Patience -- don't try for big wins -- build slowly but surely
:diamond:  Questions to ask before betting:
    :club:  What better would fold?
    :club:  What worse would call?
:club:  What is his range here?
To answer these questions take into account opponent's position, and playing style
:diamond:  Each day read a strategy article or watch a video before playing. Personally I prefer the article -- it is faster, and I retain more information
:diamond:  After each session review a couple of hands -- post them in the hand discussion forums

Get PokerTracker 4 or Holdem Manager 3 if you don't have one already. Both have free trials. Try them both.

All the best,
VS

Try vocally rooting for your opponents, especially if they are whales. I found out that works for me.
I remember once, I was watching my friend playing a PLO8 tournament, he went all in vs the biggest whale. Both of us were screaming for the opponent's outs. It was disappointing when the whale lost, but hey... we won which at the time seemed like the second best thing that could happen. xD

All great advice above.
Recently, I've been struggling in a similar situation.
For me personally, it motivates me to study more.
Even you were facing coolers and bad beats you can still find flaws in your game.

Definitely to take a day or two off works well.

Love the game and be patient. If you play well, the results will come.
Bankroll management, mindset, and patience is the key to poker success.

What stakes do you play?
Are you sure that your BRM fits your mindset? Isn't your BRM to aggressive so you're money scared?

I used to struggle with Tilt a lot. Its very hard to get card dead for an hour, then get your AA cracked by Q,9o (I had to take a 20 min break after that).
I Personally find playing through it works if you can be honest with yourself. Are you still playing well? (tilt affects most of our play), Are you playing scared money, to stop losses? (I've definitely been guilty of this, So sometimes I move down in blinds. Helps me play my A game again, because I'm less focused on the money.

The more sessions I put in, The more I realize how much the money flows in short term variance. Then when I look at it a few weeks later or in a 10,000 hand graph, I'll see couple buy-in down swing and kind of laugh, about how tilted I was about it at the time.

yea i have decent bankroll . im playing on a no deposit bankroll right now and learning with it. i have 32 buy ins for cash game and playing nl2 . so i think that is okay . i have lost 10 buy ins in the last 6k hands but im still up 11 buy ins . i feel things is turning arround again , im starting to hit my hands and draws etc again . so maybe it was just a bad luck . i played some sng´s and managed to hold my tilt back by leaving if the session startet bad :) .

Breaks are vital, firstly.

Also, when you lose 2 or 3 buy-ins, stop. Have a good break. Wait til the next day when you're well rested and recovered.

Is a good advice. Only the thread is already 3,5 years old and not sure the orginal poster will see it.

I gave up the game because I was running so bad.
Then I reviewed my play indepth and realised that whilst I was running pretty poorly I was also making some really marginal decisions where I had no need to.
It was a vicious circle: lose a flip, get frustrated, choose to flip, get frustrated and then I would lose focus and play really badly.

I tried to reply to the oldest posts I could find in your forum and guess what? The threads were closed. I guess there is a thin line in your information sharing service policy

Isn't it like a normal part of the game? I had two hands today where I was completely leading until the river playing perfectly, then they hit their river card. But later I could still win money from them getting KJs vs K8s - he decided to 3bet me and lost a big pot with top pair. When I use good bankroll management, the losses don't affect me. I keep playing good against them and if I have edge, I make money in the long-term.

Sounds like you're hitting a rough patch in your poker games lately. It happens to the best of us.

When this happens to me I try to think of what hand I would rather they called me with pre-flop, maybe I would have felt better if the guy who I got it AIPF with JJ vs his 99 actually had AKs and hit his A, or maybe if he called with KK and I have to hit a J on the R.

I usually concede that I prefer that they called AIPF with 8,3os vs my KK because if they only ever call with AA "like they should" I will probably lose a lot more over 100,000K hands.
