NOW HERE IS THE ULIMATE SECRET TO WINNING AT POKER THAT ALL THE PROS KNOW
-- The Gap Concept --
1. If you can't raise fold
2. Everytime someone raises your hand must be better in order to call
This means if you saw flop cheap and hit a flush draw , and the villian bets the flop , you must have better than correct odds to call , in other words you would beable to raise instead of calling if you choose to .
Otherwise you would only be making a break even call which isnt profitable poker.
The only bad thing about this is that you can get bluffed easier, but if you accept that bluffing is part of the game then it should be no problem.
================================
OK Lets put the concept in action...
I get AK and Im in first position , this is a raising hand in this position according to basic Starting Hand Chart so I raise .. Nothing to say I can't raise 23 in this position either but its a tough spot to play that hand and win.
If someone re raises me , do I re raise them ? Well Im on a draw I have 6 outs unless they have AA or KK then Im in bad shape, This depends on the size of there stack etc I can either call or raise since Im on a draw there is no incorrect action but folding is incorrect unless they moved all in , in which folding AK is correct since its a drawing hand.
I missed flop , should I semi bluff ? I decide not to semi bluff a 3 way pot however Im still on a draw so I could raise here thus beting here is not wrong. If I had bet , the villian might have check raised me so I would probably fold since I can't raise him.
So say he called my semi bluff, apply the concept to the villian.. why did he call? He probably called because he can raise me so he is either on a draw or he has me beat.
On river I hit my ace the villian bets. I should raise right but I feel I can't raise a raiser with just one pair and didnt thus I should have fold if I cant raise. I pay him off and prove the gap concept is right once more.

2nd hand .. the villian limps in again , I decide my A2 is worth raising a little at least to find out if the villian has anything good and limp re raises in which I can apply the concept and fold . the villian just calls , I hit bottom pair, I raise , either I have best hand or im on a 5 outer . He calls with a draw, turn card comes there isnt really much I can beat after he called so I check it down , however to bet turn would not be bad it would just be very hard to call a bluff .. I win
