Dare to get it wrong! :f_biggrin:

This week, I have been trying out a couple of things I had read in my CG-books. Some (bluffs) were really successful, other hands, I just f*ed up! Well, we should dare to f* up, because that´s part of the learning process! So now that I can post hand histories from PartyPoker, I will not only post phenomenal hands, where I won huge pots, but also hands, which I got wrong! I will dare to get it wrong, otherwise I won´t learn anything! I have to try things out, just reading things are useless - gotta do them! Gotta try them at the tables!

Another task is the mental game when getting just "nothing" and "always just the second best hand". Well: That´s part of statistics and there´s nothing you can do about it. The only thing you can do about your own mental game. That´s my next task: Finding out, how I can deal with that and of course keeping my losses to an absolute minimum during such phases. For the "worst case" I plan to split up my sessions: This means, instead of a 2 hour session (standard), I may play two 1-hour-sessions. Just to get used to variance when it shows its "dark" side. ALL players have to go through this and dealing with those phases correctly, separates a solid player from a bad "fun-player" (aka "fish").

So, let´s focus on studying the game properly!

Getting into it .....

Today, I had the feeling that I have more rountine, more confidence, more experience! Okay, to be honest: It was not difficult to win two stacks with AA, when Villain already jams upon my 3-bet. :f_ugly: But I feel already more confident, when it comes to post-flop play. Of course my post-flop play is still far from great, but the more experience I get, the better my post-flop play becomes. It is indeed not enough just to read books, you gotta do what is written there. Of course!

At the beginning of my session, I honestly felt confused. Sometimes, learning new things confuses you, until the new knowledge can settle. So, I played really absoulte "safe and clean" ABC-poker at the beginning but watched the showdowns, watched Villains and even took some very important notes. After a little while, I felt more confident to fire some bluffs, some double barrells were successful, which was really cool. Furthermore, I found only fun-players (I had already labelled as either green or blue - blue for maniac fun-player and green for no-fold-button-fun-player). One fellow-reg showed up at the end of my session (took half of his stack).

Today, variance showed its lighter side to me again, I was already prepared for a card-dead session and was thinking about how to deal with it, but no way. There were some really good value hands. I even got a bit reckless ("aaaw, that´s only 30 cents, I call"), which is something I should cut out.

Looks like a nice winning today, let´s see how things will look like at the end of the week, when it comes to the report. :f_thumbsup:

Blood sugar crash! :f_o:

Whoopsie! Should have eaten better before sitting down at the tables! I went swimming before my session - swam 1 km crawl and then easy breaststroke and backstroke.

Yes, I was hungry after swimming and yes, I ate something, but obviously not enough? In the middle of my session my blood sugar crashed and I got cravings!!! So, I quickly fixed that with a protein bar and then it was okay ... until I got very tired. Could finish my 2-hour session on Party, but I don´t think it was my A-poker towards the end of the session. Nevertheless, we can report a little winning and before my blood sugar crashed, I had the feeling that I again have improved and feel more confident with bluffs, playing marginal hands and now I got the ranges by heart! :f_thumbsup: I even played a couple of hands LAG-style (it was possible cause had fold equity). And I was happy when two fellow-regs left the tables.

And I got to a PLO-table!!! Weeee! I enjoyed playing PLO, even though I got rivered once (and there went my stack!) but somehow I got it back in NL2, by collecting small pots or value betting solid hands against some fun-players who could not find their fold button. :f_ugly:

Altogether, I would describe my todays session so-so ... not lucky, not unlucky, not A-poker but not E-poker. :f_ugly: As we´re at the end of the week and I won´t play CG at the weekends (but MTTs), let´s reveal the CG-results of this week.

At the beginning of this week we had something like 106 € on Partypoker (Partypoker-BR only!). Now we got 111,71 €, which is a nice result: about 3 stacks up!

Let´s see what we can do on 888 this weekend ..... :f_wink:

I have similar problem, only mine is usually the spike.
If I have a carby meal, I'll get sleepy afterwards. Well, more sleepy than normal, that is.

[1] I like to play an 888 freeroll with my morning coffee, but that's an exception

I had eaten a vegetarian Indian dish with rice, lentils, veggies and some spicy sauce. I thought it was a good combination of carbs, proteins and greens. But wasn´t a big meal, though. Couldn´t finish my lunch. Guess, was not enough carbs. The swimming used up a lot of stored sugar in my muscles and then the brain in CG consumed a lot of carbs (sugar), too. Whole grain noodles would have been the better choice, but we had left-over rice from yesterday.

Quite an exhausting week probably :f_biggrin: Do you know a good alternative for coffee? I love crushing those people while sipping my morning coffee but that makes me shake as the stakes and blood sugar are too high. Once we were in our summer house and girlfriend was like, how can you be so calm? I was 6-tabling NL2 with full concentration. She was nervous cause the house has started to collapse (~200-year old wall, doesn't matter much).

Yes, English tea (black tea) or green tea! Both a bit weaker than coffee or you make yourself just a very mild coffee, maybe a Latte Macchiato?

Oh thanks, that's great advice! So far I just quit poker just to enjoy the coffee more, but that latte thing could work. So half milk, half water right, with a little bit of green tea? In India they made it so @#£%@ with black tea strong like a coffee standing in coffee pot for 30 minutes.

You can also just leave the teabag or tealeaves for only 3-5 minutes in the hot water - I used to leave it 10 minutes for more, ´cause I like my tea STRONG! I have hypotonia (low blood pressure), so I really need all that caffeine! :f_biggrin: What you also can do is mix your coffee with some caffein with decaffeniated coffee - that´s what I do when I drink coffee in the afternoon, otherwise I won´t be able to sleep at night :f_ugly:

I used to leave it in even as I drink it. Now I squeeze the bag until it drops clear water. I paid real life money for every goddamn molecule in that tea, I like my tea value maxed out.

Hey, :welcome:
I don´t live in a city, but in a small (and pretty much unknown) village, near Heidelberg, in the southwest part of Germany. Our family has left Hungary a long time ago, I´m originally from Budapest (Újpest, to be more accurate).

Dodging bullets (or so)...

I just knew that my TPTK were not good here ....
77, 88, 78s were absolutely possible in Villains range. With two Villains and so much action, I decided that it´s better to get out here! AA were unlikely, as I had already an A and one was on the flop , so one single AA-combo left, and Villain probably would have 3-betted pre.... but 77, 88 and 78s were plausible, considering Villains action pre (just a cold call).

partypoker, Hold'em No Limit - $0.01/$0.02 - 5 players
Hand delivered by CardsChat

UTG (Hero): $6.43 (322 bb)

SB checks, Hero bets $0.15, CO calls $0.15, BTN calls $0.15, SB folds

Turn: ($0.67) 9 (3 players)
Hero bets $0.48, CO calls $0.48, BTN raises to $2.51 (all-in), UTG (Hero) folds, CO calls $1.69 (all-in)

River: ($5.49) 7 (2 players, 2 all-in)

Total pot: $5.49 (Rake: $0.27)

Not much poker this week....

..was pretty busy with work, tennis and social life. And tomorrow I´m gonna compete in women´s singles 40 plus. And Homer (my husband) and I are looking for a new appartment. Yes, we intend to move out! Time for a change. Our landlady had the "great" idea to jack up the rent for our appartment - which wouldn´t even be a tragedy - if this appartment was renovated and if there weren´t so many damages and burst water pipes! The house is old. Very old! It had had many burst water pipes! And so, paying more for this appartment is just very much -EV. :f_biggrin::f_ugly:

Anyway, we already went to two apparment viewings and we got our favorite. The new appartment is literally just around the corner, very modern, very nice and a bit more expensive than our current landlady is going to ask. Keep your fingers crossed guys, that hopefully we get it! :gl:

Hello and :welcome:
of course I play the nano- and microstakes MTTs on Partypoker, too! On weekdays I play CG, and on weekends I play freerolls and MTTs on Party and 888. I like the 0,22 $ PLO8 on 4:30 p.m. which I use to play on Saturdays. And YES, German landlords and landladies are really the "endbosses":
