Well, just as I thought I'd got myself set up ready for next month and nl10, I get the honour of picking the soap up in the shower again. I think the expression is fuuu. When you're already down 2BI and just can't hit the board, losing a 95%er just hurts.

Still, if I can get the 1500 vpps and 500 fpps I need I can cash for $60 and be comfortable with that for a short while. I'll take that for now, just hope my sponsor's shoes don't need replacing for a week or two.
I have to try not o get impatient to, I was expecting to be at nl50 by the end of next month. Well lol to that plan! :P

BR: 200.02

Nice symmetry Mal.

Have fun everybody, I'm off to the beach for a nice stroll with the muttley.

Don't worry Mal, you'll get over it soon enough and will then start crushing again like a boss :f_cool:

Sometimes you just have to bend over and take your medicine. :f_eek:

And btw a BR of 20000.02 has much better bill paying symmetry and after all, you just have to slip a couple of zeroes in. After all zero is nothing, so ezy game.

Having one brain cell means I can learn, but there is no storage room, so I learn today and forget today, or at best tomorrow.

Anyway, I have been attending the new style coaching sessions for beginners and fellow strugglers. I have to say that I know how I like to learn and these sessions with there greater interactivity are right up my street. The discussion element is particularly relevant as you would see if anyone has attended, I do like to talk a bit!

So I'm a different kind of nit now.

Also, joined Asaban's coaching for beginners, more for taking an interest than anything, but he makes it look like even I could win an MTT so I can't get away from watching them as well now! Of course, one should mention the Freelancer where I made the basic beginner's mistake of actually picking up a few hands. :f_cry:
Note to self, must ask Asaban to make a vid about how to run good. ?(

I other news I can't play much while taking care of mrsgadget, but I'll be back in the game proper soon I hope.

That's about it for now.

Just a quick update. I got as far as 250 br so took a shot at nl10 for 3BI and got stuffed, so dropped back to zoom 5 and got stuffed again for 4BI playing supremely well (for me), so I'm a bit stuffed today and taking a break until tomorrow.
It is a rarity for me to get downhearted but I'm definitely getting that way now; this has been going on for a long time.

Right, no whining or boo hoo poor me shit, I'm off to look at some HHs instead.

BR is now at a disheartening $1 fucking 90. :f_mad:

Fuck it here's some noise:

Have fun guys 'n' gals :)

Very strange.
I had nearly 30 BI for NL 10€ so I took a shot.
Dropped 4 BI

I went down to NL 5€ zoom,
Dropped 4 BI

Thought about quitting poker.

Sound familiar?

Thinking about quitting isn't part of my character, far too stubborn and the reality is I have to get good enough by next year to earn.

When I went to uni they told me at the open day I didn't need to be a super brain to succeed, just have lots of 'stickability.' Lucky me then frankly, when you consider I bluffed my way in with nada qualies. 80+ hours a week for the first year, failed absolutely everything by a huge margin and packed my bags three times before the end of the first semester.
Fell in love with a beautiful lady from my class with big boo...brains who fucked me over about 99 times and I still went back; nearly got thrown out for helping a deaf Korean guy who had Hepatitis B with his spelling - they thought I'd copied his work because he had an A level and I could hardly spell assignment. He was a 'boat people' from the Pol Pot era.

Became friends with a super brain who is now a senior lecturer and PhD at that same university. Damn that guy got A1s (like 100%) every time except once when he had a A3 because he had just been told he was having a heart op - and he still threw up before every exam because of nerves and got accused of cheating! That's 40 exams over 4 years at MMath I think. Apparently he had to teach the lecturers how he had solved a three page answer in 1/2 a page. 'Simple.' he said, 'Put everything into parenthesis and multiply by 1/1 (ask JB if you really want to know :f_eek: )

What else..oh yes, one senior lecturer paid my lodgings in halls for me after my dismal failure in the first year, so I could sit everything again and with a LOT of prompting from the lecturers I just scraped by.
If he hadn't I would have been out of uni and on the street (which is where I was before uni) because I had nowhere else to live :f_eek:

tl;dr

Thicky went to uni, graduated 3rd in class and came out not quite as thick; dumped the fucking loonybird and got pissed a lot while watching The Clangers, Laurel and Hardy and American wrestling.
Got a job and met mrsgadget who was enrolled on my basic skills classes.

All's well that ends well then. _cool:

In high school -- I don't know how the UK system works so I don't know the equivalent -- I was a "natural". I relied on my memory, did the minimum on assignments, and aced exams.

Got scholarships to university.

Tried the same thing there.

Barely made it through first year, and then only because a prof took me aside and explained what "work" actually meant.

I never did catch up to those who had known all along what was actually required, but I did graduate with a more-or-less useless degree in Geology.

I graduated the year after the mine closed -- you know, the one where I was going to work the rest of my life. I graduated the year before government regulations pretty much put the kibosh on mineral exploration in British Columbia.

But I would do it all over again -- except maybe (just maybe) I would work more.

Thinking about quitting isn't part of my character, far too stubborn and the reality is I have to get good enough by next year to earn.

Now there's a thought. Since I'll likely to be forced into retirement about this time next year, I should buckle down and larn this here poker thang and use it to supplement my pension.

things I'll need:
[x]  Fake texas accent
[ ]  Belt bucklu with "Vorpal" on it
[x]  Guitar -- no wait, that is for Country & Western Singer
[ ]  NL100 skills

better get busy...

Peace,

We had high schools in Scotland, my brother went but the selection was different then in rural areas especially. Basically if you were the bosses kids you went, everybody else went to work, regardless of ability. My brother got in because my father threatened the headmaster of the school with a crow bar. :f_eek: He's some bigwig in higher education now and goes round 'sorting out' rubbish colleges and stuff I think, not entirely sure.

I didn't got to school, I went fishing. I liked fishing, I didn't get hassle and I was good at it. Finally got fed up and learned to read/write blah blah from '95 and graduated uni 2000.

I'd stick with the accent you have VS, it's much smoother and ear friendly. I do like the idea of the Vorpal buckle though, so when you get to nl100 get one and post pics! _cool:

Played just over 2K hands today and apart from AK losing to anything all in pre and my AA either no action or kicked in the arse, not a lot to complain about. Yes it was yet another slippery soap (slope? ) day but what's new there eh guys.
I think I'll maybe give up on the zoom 5 and play on 'normal' 6 max. Yes, I know, 'normal' at nl5 is an oxymoron. I keep trying zoom 5 again and again and I keep losing. Mal, there's a hint there somewhere, take a really close look at see if you can find it ok?

Hero folding to a 7/3/0 over 245 hands who couldn't get the chips in quick enough. Sometimes, it's just time to go bro:

Have a sunny day guys, we had thunder storms yesterday and mrsgadget is terrified of the lightning so I had to play the comfort blanket for a day. Not a bad chore it must be said.

BR 164 and how I've still got that much I don't know.

As TT might say, 'swongs!'

Was down 3.5BI after 300 hands (I'd won precisely one pot because the villain open folded the flop) and up 0.75BI after 1.2K. Plaeys C game at start and B game later; 'nuff said about that session really.

In other news the sun is shining and it's warming the place up, so I'll be orft to the beach with the poo machine and mrsgadget this week, maybe today.
Must take some photos of the place, it really is a nice view.

Smile a lot and nod sagely, that usually fools 'em.

Well it's been a nice day today. The walk was nice and relaxing except we were a bit buggered up by the time we go home and the dog just loves the water so much it's hard to get her to get out - try giving her a bath though!

I won a few BI and then got a bit sticky a couple of times with aces on nasty boards, so lost a couple of BI there, but whatever.

Here's my funny one for today. It's not the only one like this, it's just I read this guy so easily he may as well have had his cards face up:

PokerStars - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $4.90
Hero (SB): $6.47
BB: $5.05
UTG: $5.51
MP: $5.00
CO: $8.93

Hero posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.07) Hero has K♠ A♠

fold, fold, fold, BTN calls $0.05, Hero raises to $0.20, fold, BTN calls $0.15

Flop: ($0.45, 2 players) 9♦ 9♥ T♠
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($0.45, 2 players) T♥
Hero bets $0.23, BTN raises to $0.61, Hero calls $0.38

River: ($1.67, 2 players) 4♣
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.60, Hero calls $1.60

Spoiler

BTN shows 8♦ K♦ (Two Pair, Tens and Nines) (Pre 28%, Flop 18%, Turn 5%)
Hero shows K♠ A♠ (Two Pair, Tens and Nines) (Pre 72%, Flop 82%, Turn 95%)
Hero wins $4.67

BR 200.xx

Have fun.

So, here's my saw graph for this week. At least the ups are going up a little more than the downs are going down.

Spoiler

I was going along quite nicely until this morning, but I'll pick up $25 bonus for my fpps in a day or so.
I'm enjoying these new course from Pokerstrategy and still hoping I can throw in some MTTs when the roll improves to somewhere decent.

BR: a slow 201

In other news, mrsgadget fell off her bike again yesterday and it hurts more these days so she's having today of work while I fix the bike and her confidence.
It's also getting bloody warm here, too much for me at least. The melting point of a Welshman is generally accepted to be 24 degrees and we wont be far off that if it keeps going the way it is. It's also very humid which just drains me so I get all lethargic, which suits the dog just fine.

Have a nice weekend, it's time for me to chill.

So anyway, I've been attending Asaban's MTT coaching and today was the last lesson, an MTT with status upgrade and an hour coaching with the bossman himself.
I attended but had no money on WH or I would have owned them no doubt! Bah!

Congrats to our coach who won the MTT for about $9! His PC went down for a while and he was a bit speechless at the end - understandable, it's big deal winning an MTT - but I think he just wanted to take some 'me time' to let it all sink in and rub the money on his titties! _love:
So then we raffle off the free coaching session and the winner wasn't there, so he did it again and I was just about to sit out when I heard, '...and the winner is...omg...gadget51!' Woohoo, now wtf do I do!

I won a few dollars at cash as well so pokerwise it was a good day.

tldr;

Coach wins his own MTT so raffles the free coaching, which I duly won.

How rigged is that?! _evil: _evil:
