Don't ask me to pronounce it, but this guy won the status upgrade and well deserved it was to for finishing 2nd to the bossman imo: staszekwichura, so super congrats to him and lots of kudos points.

He was going to award it to me in all honesty but realised his 'Upgrade Current User to Human?' app was greyed out, but I'm not bitter, honest.

In other news mrsgadget is waiting for her results from the vet and is in panic mode (as she does), meaning I get to play comfort blanket for a week or two, at least until Big Brother comes on at night, then it's offski for meski for an hour session.
Speaking of which, I wrapped in the zoom 5. It's cool for getting 2 morrison hands in but not so great for playing poker, at least for me - probably because I'm such a bloody pilchard but woteva.

It's been a while since I saw a 90+/60+ button clicker at the table and by the end of the session this morning he'd owned me of course - standard day at the office init, but I'm not bitter, honest. :baby:

BR 257

Think I'll go crush MTTs. Not likely for a while! :P

I played a monster session yesterday on six standard nl5 tables and it went quite well, although I took a couple of big hits right near the end which kinda put a damper on it. Still, eight hours+ is not something I can do every day! It did, however, get me away from Big Brother and that other crass programme that runs alongside it(no idea what it's called).
I'm glad I ditched the zoom for a while but the slower pace of standard games takes a bit of adjusting to after four tabling zoom.
I only play six for now because I'm working quite hard to improve my game, but the regs seem to be quite weak/passive and mostly straightforward (no surprises there then) so should be moving to nl10 next month hopefully. I will need to pay a little more attention there.

So anyway, here's this weeks garf:

Spoiler

In other news, mrsgadget is feeling a bit better, but she still can't use a remote. She flipped yesterday because the telly wouldn't come on and that crap prog was starting- so I went down to check it out and what did I find -she had, of course, forgotten to switch the bloody thing on. 'Nuff said really.
She's funny without even trying. _love:

That'll do it for now, it was nice to get a winning week in, albeit not super great but whatever the graph is going up again.

The weather is super sunny here so maybe off to the beach later with he muttley. You all have a great weekend now.

If you wren't such a balla you'd come over and giver her the notes yourself.

Haven't played a lot last few days because mrsgadget has her birthday on Sunday, she was 21 apparently and who am I to argue.

I h ave been studying poker a bit and thoroughly enjoying the new style coachings for us weaklings. I actually found out that if I make a report in PT4 I can run my whole session again as a vid in the replayer or upload to Youtube, now isn't that clever.
Gogo techno-gadget.

In other news the weather has gone a bit too warm; I've reached melting point and my fat dog is hiding in corners out the way. We seem to do extremes here, either it's bloody pissing down or there's a drought.
Shan't complain too much, it'll get shitty soon enough...

Have a good week.

Did you bake her a cake?

Oh good grief yes, I forgot to mention the bloody cake.

My recipe. :P

Spoiler

Cakie making by Mal:

#1 Throw any recipe into the bin (I have none anyway) and use Mal's patented 'intuition method.'

#2 Take some flour and dump it in a big mixing bowl til it's about a third full. You'll need a big bowl because you have no clue as to how much to use, so overdo it just in case init.

#2a. Intuitively, you realise it may be the wrong one, take flour back out and change it for self raising instead. Whew, that was close.

#4 Crack some eggs (Intuitively I used 8) into the bowl (no shells obv, duh) and tablespoon in a few lumps of margerine, no need to measure, just lumps will do fine. Mix it up a bit and suddenly remember it's a cake and might need some sugar.

#4a. Get bag of sugar, pour half bag into bowl and some onto the table; mix again.

#5 Chuck a bag of [oh yes I know what I 've got in the cupboard I can use] mixed dried fruit in it, mix again.

#5a. Find a plastic lemon thing in the back of the cupboard [what the fuck is that for?] squeeze some in the bowl, fuck it.

#6 Mix a lot until it looks a bit like concrete using just enough water to make it wet but not soggy. I fit gets soggy, fuck it, add some more flour, easy game.
#6a. Repeat until said cake is starting to get a bit big and heavy then stop and make do with it as it is ffs!

#7 Sling it into a saucepan lined with greaseproof paper and with the handle taken off because you forgot to buy a cake dish thingy, then squash it all down.

#8 Cook in electric fan oven. You have no clue how hot it should be so start from the top and see how it goes. You can always turn it down a bit later.

#9 Check if cooked by stabbing centre with a knife; if it's cooked the knife will stay dry, if not it will have cake mix on the end. Try to watch that the outside doesn't get too hard on top.

#10 Find out the outside got too hard. Turn oven heat down to an intuitively lower level, quick.

#11 Keep stabbing cake until meh, that'll do. Turn off oven and leave cake in to cook slowly. Take out after about Xminutes (pff, don't ask me) and leave to cool, then remove and place on greaseproof paper - haven't got any left, toilet roll (pristine of course! ) will do fine fuck it.

#12 Melt a bar of chocolate (cheap) by breaking it up into a small pan and holding above a low heat til it goes runny. Spread all over the now cooled cake with a spoon.

#13 Leave to cool and stick pretty edible flowery sweety things all over it.

#14 Ply mrsgadget with a nice vin de supermarket and some truffle chocolate stuff.

#15 Proudly present to the now slightly inebriated mrsgadget, the 143kilo concrete cake with cast iron chocolate coating and wish her happy birthday. {Remember, she doesn't need to know you forgot to buy, or make, icing either, ok?}

To be fair, the cake wasn't THAT hard to cut if I used the bread knife and the chocolate coating stuff, when it did shatter, didn't shoot the flowery sweetie things so far we couldn't find them.

Mrsgadget took the last bit to work with her today, so there!

I was of course given very precise instructions as to how to do it by the awesome Vorpal, but my mrsgadget doesn't give a toss what it looks like anyway, as long as it's on a plate and the plate is big and the plate is full, that will do her very nicely thank you.
A fortuitous trait given that's how I cook.
She said, 'It's really nice Mal and it's the thought that counts more anyway.'

Hey nxm13, thanks for dropping by!
It's nice to see you posting, I hope we'll see you around a bit more; although reading my drivel would probably be enough to make you avoid the place, I agree, guilty as charged.

It varies immensely actually, sometimes when mrsgadget is ill I may only play 15K or so, but I have been as far as 103K I think and surprisingly I have nearly 65K this month but haven't played at all today yet. I wouldn't really know my average though, probably around 60K, not huge by most standards.

Take care.

'sir,...' Now I feel good again. _love:

Ok, time for Ye Olde monthly roundup.

Gave up zoom 5 for a bit, far too swingy when the whole world calls and you're stuck playing fit/fold too much. I will be back.

Six standard tables nl5 6max instead and they were kind to me. Not a great sample as usual, but Euro players seem to be more spewy overall even given they show the same tight stats as the $ regs.

Here's one giraffe of each $ & Euro respectively, for all you big game hunters:

Spoiler

Spoiler

Total hands were about 71K but I gave up zoom after around a 50K kicking, so not a bad result for the month all said and done.

I've learned loads from the courses we're doing to. Well, I say learned, more like relearned and reinforced, obviously I know most of the stuff there, but I spam the chat and get told things that surprise me every lesson.
One day I'm going to know about 1/4 of what these guys have forgotten and then look out!

Anyway, not to cut a long story short and change a lifetime of habit, my game has transformed into something a bit more like a nit/tag as opposed to just a nit/nit/fish. I think I can get away with raising many more flops than I do and when I 3bet oop I should certainly cbet more. I ran LeakFinder and it says I'm playing 'good' just about everywhere except in aggression postflop. Gadget go find out why, go fix; gadget own. _evil:

In other news, I've been watching the footy and tbh I'm not greatly impressed by the big guns, even though they're finding ways to scrape through - as champions do of course.
Then again, my outsiders to do well were Iran and Mexico, but I'm not bitter, honest.

Mrsgadget is getting worse and has a bit of trouble breathing at the moment but she's a real trouper so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully I can play nl50 as a +6bb/100 to earn a few dollars by next year and it'll all be sunshine and roses again in gadgetworld.

Got the plumbers coming again today, yet another bloody flood. Not so bad this time, the upstairs toilet bowl is leaking, fortunately the floor was sealed when they refurbished the place.
Shit happens.

This stuff vibrates my bones:

Have a great week.

I love this one of theirs:

Less so now that I see that it has been used in a commercial. <sigh>

The line "when the sun says good night to the mountain" reminds me of this oldie...

I still haven't given up on zoom, but I do nowhere near the volume you do.

Best of luck,

I've heard the first one VS, but that was a nice voice on the second as well.

I think this is called a Post Oak bluff if memory serves, so I sent it for evaluation.
If you can stop laughing long enough, your comments would of course be greatly appreciated.

Basically the question is how to calculate this particular bluff type multiway.

nl5 6 max bluff confusion

My game is changing so fast at the moment, sometimes I get a little lost. That's just knowing enough to get into trouble, but not quite enough to get back out again.
Ye, I know, glub glub glub. :f_confused:

As for today, I'll be off to the vet with the mrs and then I get the dubious honour of painting our hallway. I'll play later if I'm not still tilting from that.

Keep it fun and be well.

I attended but had no money on WH or I would have owned them no doubt! Bah!

Congrats to our coach who won the MTT for about $9! His PC went down for a while and he was a bit speechless at the end - understandable, it's big deal winning an MTT - but I think he just wanted to take some 'me time' to let it all sink in and rub the money on his titties! _love:
So then we raffle off the free coaching session and the winner wasn't there, so he did it again and I was just about to sit out when I heard, '...and the winner is...omg...gadget51!' Woohoo, now wtf do I do!

Hi gadget,
About the hand...

I don't think it qualifies as a post oak bluff since it is described as "...is a very small bet relative to the size of the already-existing pot."

Also, I have pretty much stopped trying to bluff two people off a hand.

But I am folding to the raise OTF.
I just don't see enough equity in this pot to continue vs two people.

But that is just me -- I think I'm now turning into a nit!

@Asaban,

Absolutely agree with the fold VS, it was an experiment is all. Obviously with a blank on the turn I'm outta there! A bit spewy and definitely not normal me.

Nits 'R' Us ftw, as they say on those modern high-tech text messaging thingies.

Just back from the vet with the mrs so I may play a bit later, after my honourable attempt at painting the hall.

Still rubbing that 9$ on my titties btw

Feels good!

If you send me a date for your free private coaching you might soon be able to rub some money on your own titties ;)

As for your hand:
I would 3bet preflop Oo

As played I call his minbet and fold to the raise.

As played call turn.

Check behind river - no need to bluff against fish :)

That said I am a cashgame fish.

Well things have been a bit up & down as usual lately, so same old same old really as far as that goes.

I did try out Asaban's MTT coaching stuff in a couple of privilege freerolls; min cashed in the first and 1K/22K in the other, so I thought meh, this is easy why not?

Entered a $3.00 + $0.30 MTT, 400+ seats and nice ordinary structure (non of that super duper fast, turbo, hurry up bingo malarkey for our hero, oh no!), got 2nd, got totally outplayed on the FT, cashed $172.xx, nearly doubled the br, job done. :f_love:

Got an hours coaching with the main man Asaban _cool: on Tuesday so I need to think of some (probably really nooby) questions and find a few hands that weren't obvious plays to chat about. Really looking forward to it now.

Moved up to nl10 on Saturday night to catch all the drunk 95/25 guys and got stuffed for 6BI. Sigh, do those guys ever miss a gutshot? They must be using different odds sheets to me, that must be it.
I think their's is a 'Something for the weekend, sir?' special you can get from the barber and it says a flush draw is 1:1, coincidentally the exact same odds as a gutshot with one card to come when you go all in ?(

It also comes with a free condom so they can fuck me over safely. :f_mad:

In other news I have been painting our hallway, doing some more baking for the lolz and taking care of SWMBO, who is feeling a little better having sacrificed a few newborns during the week.

Sadly, one of our mod crew will be sitting out after today, booo! :f_cry:
However, he is staying around the forums so he may just start a blog, you never know! Hurrah! _love:

You have a great weekend guys, I'm off to try my super-skills in the Freelancer. Maybe I'll get Asaban HU, now wouldn't that be rigged!

Here's a singing lesson:

Take care and have fun.

I'm glad you posted the singing lesson.

I now can sing like a bird.

Unfortunately, the bird is a duck, but I'll take the small victories.

So, PT4, notepad, instant hand history, Asaban's MTT course all open. Check!
Coffee and a few bisuits at the ready and my cap on like the pros do on Stars? Check!
Entered the Hot $3.30? Check!

Fold my first 13 hands? Check!
Get KK 14th hand and out? Check!

I wonder if I should really be playing more than one at a time, given how boring it can get. I'd have to drop limits though, playing one at $3 is ok now and again but too much for the BR to multi-game.

Played the Lancer yesterday and managed to get dealt a playable hand somewhere along the line; can't remember when though, it was so long into it. Then I got 55 and shoved 14bb over the (in my defence, loose) utg raiser's TT - oops, we know you're a fish but nice one gadge, wp.

I think my buddy VS was right though, with the bankroll and enough skill to make them interesting, I agree that MTTs may just be my 'thing' so to speak.
Hmmm, I'll ponder it some more...

Have fun.
