QQ: You 3bet a guy that raises early with QQ which isn't terrible but you should know you don't run that well against he's calling range. When player behind flats it sucks even more to play 3b pot OOP and when OR 4bets it's an easy fold.

JJ:If you 4bet you turn this hand into a bluff without any solid history. Call 3b IP imo. Calling all in.. well... you know...

TT:If BU 3bets a lot vs UTG you can 4bet/fold but never call a shove with TT. Just ask TT! :f_biggrin:

LE: I guess that's not what I should have done... 'Cause it doesn't really help whatsoever, does it? HU for play money rollz ?! :f_cool:

wrong imo except for TT. all hands standard except that one. if you're playing with stats you can take better lines for some of those hands (r/c JJ, flat QQ etc)

He uses HEM so he has stats afaik. Going broke with JJ on NL10 pre seems way to light. And in the QQ hand I have no idea what can a villain 4bet and call a shove with worse than our hand. Not to mention we still have a guy behind...

Calm down chaps! Let me put you out of your misery. The OR was playing about 9/9, so I knew he was going to show me AA or KK, but the previous day I was in exactly the same situation and managed to fold my QQ, so this time I decided I had to see it. Do you think I might have some tilt/selfcontrol/mindset issues? (That's a rhetorical question.)

Have you heard of a book called The Poker Mindset ? (Now that's a rhetorical question.)

As you know, I read it, and didn't like it, and don't remember reading a chapter called 'How to Stop Being an Arsehole'. Now that would be a chapter worth reading. Hopefully I'll be able to write it once I've found the cure.

I didn't like it either, I'm a big tilt monkey myself, what me and a friend of mine been experimenting with lately is doing lots of short sessions, like play 500 hands and then quit no matter how good or bad you've been running or how sick soft the tables are, it's rly hard to quit at first esp if running bad and tables are full of 80vpivp whales but you'll get used to it and it'll increase your discipline/won't let you tilt off as much.

later on you can increase the number of hands/session and hopefully at some point just play until feeling tilted instead of going on tilt, dumping 10 stacks and pulling out an all nighter to get it back. My wr improved drastically from doing short sessions.

Good idea. However, last night, I did indeed take a break after 500 hands, but made the mistake of checking HEM, to find I was 3BI below AI EV (which I could have guessed), had a cup of tea, took a deep breath, regained my composure, and then blew another 5 stacks.

This might do the trick.

KK std.
QQ I hate 3b'ing UTG with QQ (altho some would disagree but fk the 'should I 3b UTG w/ QQ argument'), with reads that guy flats/4b's weaker and/or opens UTG light its ok but from my time at NL10 I notice that ppl don't do this, UTG open is generally pretty nutty range, they generally don't flat 3b and only 4b nuts. Flatting is great keep in his TT JJ for when u flop overpair etc. pwn gg.
JJ/TT 3b'ing going broke with these pre is dumb & massively overplays your hand at this level, you can 3b provided villain shoves or flats worse often, but for this you need reads that villain is ultra donk, I know its great to play aggro both pre & post, but the thing is, you just massively devalue your hands by folding out worse and getting in vs better. Ppl arn't giving you so much shit at this level I mean cmon, do you rly think most NL10 regs are good thinking plrs. Generally not, generally just ABC tags and vs ABC tags JJ/TT doesn't do great.

GL man I mean my advice is probably like the advice you got before, but I am NL10 reg too so my advice is based on my reads/time @ NL10 :)

perhaps watch/listen to the eightfold path to poker enlightment by tommy angelo?

not a superbig fan of their jokes and all that but the fact remains that the information in the series (and the book you mentioned you didnt like) is really worth listening to or reading.

once we want to grow as pokerplayers we have to face the fact that we cant just watch or read what we like anymore because that's just not gonna cut it. =)

this really is the tricky part of poker. the theory itself aint that hard to learn imo.

One thing that I find really helps against spew/tilt is if you have someone sweat you. Not only do you get a set of extra eyes and thoughts, but you also (at least in my experience) try harder not to tilt because you'll look like a complete morron for doing so whilst someone is watching.. dno, might help.

anyway i wish you gl on your quest =)

One thing i noticed at the hands is that almost all players have 100bb+ stack. I think you should table select better. Who do you think you make more money from: NL2 player who decides to tilt of his remaining $5,49 at NL10 or from solid NL10 reg? :)

About hands:
KK - standart, im not gonna say anything here.
QQ - i dont mind 3betting at all here, at least you get some info from him. However, if you get 4bet from UTG (lets just assume hes a solid player), you should fold your queens because you're way behind. He figures out that you'd not 3bet utg with trash, so he knows you are strong and he still 4bets you - AA, KK, at worst AK or the other two queens.
JJ - i'd just call and play pot IP.. If he's aggro and 3bets your LP opens a lot then 4betting is fine i guess. But def fold to his 5bet. Tbh i'd def prefer calling and playing pot IP.
TT - fold to his squeeze. You're oop and his 3bet is really too large to just call and try to hit a ten on the flop. 4betting is just stupid because you're pretty much turning your hand into a bluff.

I know how it feels to have hands like that.. Just everytime you pick up a big hand you get 3bet/4bet and you have to fold. And when you have aces, you just pick up the blinds. The worst thing is to think that ppl are just trying to make a move on you. The fact is that they just have a better hand and you should fold.

Hope it helped. :)

Thanks for all the help everyone.

I think I should:

1) Cut down from 6 to 4 tables and try to table select better.
2) Find a sweat partner for next week. Preferably someone playing NL10 on FT.
3) Start posting more in the HE forums, including on other peoples hands.

And btw, was I the only one who thought KK<AA, QQ<KK, JJ<QQ, TT<JJ, all in one session was tragically funny, however badly I played some of them? :f_biggrin:

Alficor if u 3b fold QQ then u may aswell have 72o right? He is way more likely to 4b than flat imo.

Yes. Whats wrong with 3bet folding? If you just call, you have no idea what he has. He can have KJo, AA or T9s. By 3betting you get some info. If he folds or calls, you have the best hand. If he 4bets, you dont.

Anyway i was saying what i would have done, im not saying its 100% correct. ;)

I agree with fusionpk. Basically, it's probably still is +EV to 3b QQ but it's even more +EV to call an play IP postflop.

Btw, if you bet or raise for information you are doing it wrong Alf...

I'm not saying you don't get info too but say reg MP opens 3x, you have AKs OTB. Blinds are fish. If you 3b fish will get out of the way and reg will fold AT+, QJ, KQ type hands and you have the info he will probably call QQ+, AK and if he 4b he is on QQ+ if aggro enough, if not he has KK+. Ofc, he can also bluff as he is a reg and that puts pressure back on you. If you don't 3b you still have his OR range as info, position and maybe a fish gets crazy in the blinds. And if fish calls in blinds you don't mind at all because you have it all: hand, position and skill.
