DISASTER!!

Once again i ve managed to lost my database !It all started when the stupid windows update installed new drivers for my graphic card which fucked up my system. It seems they were some buggy drivers , i unistallled and installed the previous i had with no luck.My pc restarted and then i was getting a " process1_initialization_failed" blue error screen.I even tried to ran from safe mode and i was getting the same screen.I googled a bit and found from the ms forum that a file could be the cause of all these , i ve managed somehow to go to my hard disk and erase that file but the stupid blue screen didnt stop.So final decision was to format and reinstall the win7, good thing is that i had a second hard disk with all of my data , bad thing is that i used the disc i installed the win7 for the minor programms i use like full tilt holdem manager etc so i ve lost the db of the last 3 months (i had backed up the db until then in the other disc)and also i lost all the notes i had on the players. So its like starting the 36s from the scratch again ,going in blind until i have some hands .So frustrated... also my graphic card is slowly dying so i was thinking of buying the new ati card 6850 which is a little worse than the 5850 but its like half price.

Hmmm. Computers > people. You don't get jailed for turning them off.

Can you get the hands from FTP?

There is a beta download possible.

Hey, Schris!

I found this blogg interesting and very usefull for me as I'm also SnG grinder. =)

Currently I'm playing $2.25 turbos 9man on Full Tilt, and soon there will be a big step for me, so I wanna ask your opinion if you dont mind. =)

My current BR is $210 and I have considered few options about hitting higher limits as soon as I get there, so:

1) Isn't it sometimes too boring to sit down an hour at normal speed $5 SNGs if you've played turnos till far?

2) Should I start by taking shots at $5.50 normal SNGs or $6.50 turbo SNGs?

good luck with your poker career,

miljon.

Hi Schris,

I remember playing with u at the $12's/$24's, nice to see that u moved up to the $36's. I hope for you that you will be able to move up to the $60's next month. It sucks that you lost a portion of your db tho :(

I recently started a blog on ps too, so if you are interested, take a look :) (There's not a lot in there yet, tho). I'm still playing the $24's, hope to get to the $36's in one/two months tho.

Hey there, it's always a pleasure to have a new face in my blog.

My general tips are to be comfortable with your brm,if you feel your game is solid and you re condident you can use a more aggresive bankroll for the limits.I prefer to have at least 100bis or more for each limit because i dont like moving down limits.Normal sngs are very boring indeed but if you can see them as a challenge and not as a grinding boring sessions it would be easier to play them. When i say challenge i mean that with normal sngs u can improve your postflop game and of course variance is easier and u can get a higher roi than turbos cause you will find more edge compared to the turbos. In turbos even the fishes make right moves when blinds are high(even if most of the time they dont know it).Of course in the end the most important fact is the $/hr u make so even if u have more roi at normal games you will prolly have a better $/hr with turbos.

Last tip is to find a sweat partner who plays the same limit or higher .In that way you will improve much faster and you will gain more confidence.

I hope i was helpful,if you have further questions dont hesitate to ask . good luck to whatever you choose and remember never stop improving your game . :)

I ve managed to gather the db of november using the beta hand history of full tilt. But i had many non-finished sngs which i manually entered the result , in the end i believe everything is correct , if not the differences are tiny(+ - 50$).Now if only i could get my notes back it would be pefrect but ..

My today post will focus of how you categorize your opponents and it would be nice if everyone can share their opinion about that subject. As i play on ft we have the coloured notes so i give red-orange to the best regs , yellow to small winning players , green to unknown (i usually have a green note when i take a note for an action that have been made without knowing my opponent) and the light blue - blue for the fishes .
Usually my criteria for the above selections are : Roi , Sample , avg buy in.

I give red note to people that have more than 7% roi with a very good samplesize and also some 4-5% roi players with big sample size and big avg buy in (40$+).Yellow note is mostly the 2-4% roi players while light blue is usually 0% -2% roi players, more than -2% goes to blue.I need at least a sample of 1500games to give a player a note otherwise it goes to green category.

I rarerly see any of the red tags (havent seen 2 red tags in my game almost ever i think)but i see quite often of these "breakeven" regs like 3-4 in my games and i dont know if i should avoid them or not.Clearly i have some edge but its prolly a tiny one and even a bad regu will make a good call when blinds are up(even a fish will do a right move even if he doesnt know it ).So i would like a detailed opinion of how you categorize your regs and with what criteria .

i just seperate the BE guys from the good winners
then i have a marker for losing players and one for unknowns. not as detailed as yours but works for me

I need more details man . how do u recognize a good winner ?I mean whats your criteria for that and the most important question i want to be answered is with how many good winners or break even players are u willing to play with in one table :)
I know you can do better than that !

my SS filter is set up so that it will track only results from last 6 months.

>2k games is my minimum sample, less than that and i mark them as small sample

>2k <15% = fish
>2k <0% = loser
>2k >0 = BE
>2k >3% = winner
>5k >5% = good reg.

(all these are over 6 month samples)

i try play only with 2 other winners. (that includes BE players) so 6 unknowns/fish + 2 winners + me.

the maximum try and have is 3 other winners.

there are many articles around if u want specific numbers on how a reg roi in your game will effect your roi.

It seems none got time to write down their opinion about categorizing their opponents.Maybe they like to keep it secret or they are bored or they dont read at all .(i think i covered em all :) ).Anyway at last i got my mini heater on 36s(this should be my first heater even if its a mini one at that limit).I ve followed the rules of lessonthree(thx bro for always sharing your opinion when i need to) about not joining in a table with 3 winners, the result is that heater mb a coinsidence mb not but it had a side effect in the end.I couldnt play many games , it seems the regus dont care much about table selecting ( no wonder i believe why they are stuck to 1-2%roi for thousands of games).I did some minor changes in my hu play that paid off(at least for the moment).

I make a distinction between losers, BE regs (ranging from -2% to 2%), and winning regs (>2%). Samplesize must be at least 1-1.5k, but can be less if I notice them making good plays, pushing in the right spots etc.

My limit for joining games is 3 regs as well, but I try to avoid games with 3 clear winning regs which is hard sometimes. I usually just register for 12 games and keep an eye on the lobby to see how many regs are joining. Sometimes that can be a very frustrating strategy as some regs just seem to love getting in games with 3 other regs. The most frustrating thing is if a reg registers as the last player so you can't do anything about it.

Good that you got a mini-heater going, keep it up! I probably won't be joining at the $36's any time soon, cause I have to recover first :)
