As always I spent my lunch break on Pokerstrategy since it's banned on my work PC :( Anyway I figured I would spend the time on something a bit more productive than just looking at stuff I won't need, so why not make a quick update. :)

I have only played one session this month since I was totally bombed esterday where I went to bed 7.30, so there hasn't been happening too much for me this month so far, I got the January jumpstart promo on stars, so I'm now already at around 800 VPP's, so keeping gold star should be pretty easy this month, but I kinda hope that I can move up through the limits this year and at the end make Supernova. I know this is going to be hard considering I'm just playing NL10 at the moment, but that shall not stop me from working hard for this goal!

This month I also want to study a bit more, since I barely did any studying last month since I'm not confident enough about my game to move up to NL25, and I don't have any bumhunting software to make the move easier.

Today I will hopefully get a good long session, review and watch a video. I hope to watch Anders Jensens two first 6-max videos on NL10, where he have some very interesting ways on how to exploit bad players. Tomorrow I will try to make a schedule and a spreadsheet of habits I want to aply to my day.

I also made a list of goals for this month:

[ ] 50,000 Hands
[ ] Watch Real Life Part Time No Limit Grinder - Blah234
[ ] Watch all Anders Jensens videos
[ ] Spend 5 hours a week on self study
[ ] Purchase The Education of a Modern Poker Player
[ ] Keep Gold Status

Today I was totally pumped and ready to get so serious volume in a make some money, but the poker gods don't always approve of those plans. Right of the bat I lost to +400bb pots where I got it in really good, but no good at showdown. Then I decided to give NL25 a shot by following a guy from 2p2, and actually turned the day into a really good day, so why not play another session? Maybe because I will run into a bunch of coolers, lost flips and worst of all huge misclicks. :f_cry:

I know I shouldn't give opponents hints on my hand strength in the chat, but I was going to write "if you have it you have it" and the shove, but what I forgot was that "f" is my hotkey for fold...

Again today I was pumped and ready to put in volume and crush the games, but once again that was not supposed to happen, I played a pretty short session today but after I got it in with KK BvB 250 BB deep and he binked a queen on the turn I decided to stop since I felt very upset and not in the right mindset to play my A game, and the games will probably also run tomorrow. :)

Instead I decided to go on 2p2 and moan about my loss, and I finally took the time to make a list of habits I want to get into my daily routine. I'm not sure if I will put in another session tonight, most likely not, but I won't completely deny it. I will most likely watch a poker video, review some hands and watch two and a half men.

I will try to update this blog every day with a small note on how it has been going and how my habits are coming along.

To end it off here is the beautiful graph for the month so far. It's pretty depressing to look at the results and already now aim for a breakeven month, although I still should be able to grind out a good profit if the doomswitch just get turned off. :f_rolleyes:

I really haven't felt like I had neither time or energy to update my blog this week, I try to grind a lot which is something I really want, but I have a limited amount of free time and I like to be silly on the forums :f_biggrin:, so all in all I haven't been able to find the time, so i came up with the great idea that since I always go to check pokerstrategy in my lunch break I will just update my blog then. :)

Yesterday was a big day for me, it was the second winning day this year I made right around $3,50. I have had the doomswitch turned on this year so far which is never nice, but I feel like I'm gaining back some momentum and I really look forward to starting my shot at NL25 tomorrow I have had a chance to look at some new stuff that I have been trying out, I will keep experimenting today, and hopefully tomorrow I will be ready to crush! :f_cool:

After a lot of thought I decided to buy plenos coaching program, I have been thinking about it since I saw it, but wasn't sure because it's like half my bankroll, but I decided I'm ready to take a shot and I can always win the money back anyway, I also saw his coaching last night and he absolutely crushed the game, and my thought was "I need to work with this guy whichever way possible!" :f_biggrin: and when I said he would throw PT4 in to package I was sold. So I really look forward to working on this stuff and hopefully it's as good as it's hyped to be. :f_love:

Today I bought Pleno1's killer course, and I thought I had to make a video for him to analyze, but apparently that was not until I had finished the course which actually makes good sense since he will be able to see how I have applied the strategy from his videos and how I can do that better. Anyway I spent quite a bit time on downloading recording software and had to play on windows so I only played 6 tables for 50 minutes, so ~500 hands which is pretty bad, but I ended up $41 on my shot at NL25, so not all bad, had a little good run though. :f_biggrin:

I got tons to tell about regarding Pleno1's course, for one I was so happily surprised about how nice a guy he is (not that I didn't expect him to be a nice guy :f_biggrin: ), he is without a doubt one of the nicest guys in the community, answers every question nicely, his entire attitude is so friendly, and even though I couldn't transfer the entire amount because of limit on my account he sent me the package without any hesitation.

When I got to the videos I was really excited to start watching them, so far I have watched the intro, the HUD tutorial and "Playing from SB and BB" and the videos are just amazing, I have never seen that good material, he really takes time to describe the concepts, ranges etc. from a power point which is working really well.

I will probably take some time to try to apply the concepts before watching the next videos since I otherwise won't be able to handle all the new information and I won't get max value out of the videos, but that is just how I learn best. He speak really quickly and with a british accent (not saying he should slow down), so I might have to watch it again to make sure I got it all and to take some more notes. :f_biggrin:

Finally, hand of the day! :f_cool:

Just had my biggest winning day so far in my poker career, I have to say almost everything went my way today, lost two stack with KK once PF vs AA and once on 345hh flop vs 33 in 3b pot. Beside those cases I got it in good almost every time I had a big pair which is nice, and holding it is even better

Last night I watched pleno1's first video on how to play from SB and BB, I have therefore focused a lot on my SB play today and it have went very well, the strategy he recommend have been working perfectly. I haven't really had time to focus too much on BB play, but what he said about it really makes sense and hopefully I will slowly apply it in the next couple days.

Lol sample, but still very happy with how the strategy have been working, people don't respond very well to it, so hopefully it will keep working like this. :f_biggrin:

I really love writing on my blog, but in the weekdays I just can't find the time which I'm a little upset about, but anyway I try to update a couple time during the weekend and once or twice during the week.

This week I haven't put in as much volume as I have wanted to, mainly because I really wanted to install PT4, but I had so much trouble with it, but now that it's finally done it's time to put in some hands! :f_cool:

Another thing I really want to reach this year is supernova, I know this is really hard and I will have to play at least NL25 for the rest of the year and still put in good volume each month, but I'm willing to do that!

Currently I'm a bit behind SN pace, but I think I can catch up considering I played NL10 the first 10 days of the month.

Today I got really good volume, but I don't think I played very well, in the end I started to think much more about my actions, since I realized my non-showdown winnings are costing me way too much, so I think this will be my main focus for a while until I feel like I got it somewhat under control. Hopefully I can get a good day tomorrow with good volume and good profit. :f_love:

After a terrible session yesterday I decided to give up on the supernova chase for now, I realized it was a pretty terrible idea, it left me with very little time to study and probably playing longer sessions than I should. I hope this will help me focus better, after I watched one of Plenos videos last night I realized how much information I was missing, so I'm thinking of cutting down on table to 8-10 and the focus more on exploitin gmy opponents since there are so many soft spots that I just don't exploit enough, I think I got an awsome HUD, so not using it is such a waste!

I'm now only up $150 for the staking period which is pretty awful, I really hope to do better by the end of the month, but if I put in a little more effort I think it should be possible.

Yesterday I was looking at leakfinder just to see if any of my stats were really bad and I found one really big leak (cbetting) which really need improvement, this might be one of the reasons why my red line is as bad as it is and I will try to work on it.

Volume goals can be productive in terms of motivation and stop being lazy, however, they can be dangerous if you ignore everything else and just keep grinding- this can lead to big tilts and money spews. Also, you said it right- you need time for studying too.

I was in pretty similar situation like you last year, and my advice is that you should take a break from supernova chase for a while (nothing will happen you are not chasing SNE, and you can make SN in few months either way later on). Use this break to do more short sessions, and get back in balance with your game and other activities.

GL bud!

Fran

EDIT: And man, you really fu***d up this thread in small talk: "would you rather.." hahahah how in the world to have an intelligent answer there :) LOL you're crazy.

The thing is that if I should be able to move up to NL50 sometime this year it should still be able to reach supernova and I will have learned a lot on my way compared to if I spend 100 hours a month playing and barely study. Supernova is not THAT much worth imo.

About the 'would you rather' you should choose one or they will stay like that forever. The best answer I have heard was from a guy who said he would just find a new girlfriend and let his mom stay in a younger body

The last couple of days have just been absolutely terrible for me, I have been absolutely crushed. I don't think it's because I'm playing that bad, the games are not really that tough and I feel like I got a pretty good idea of what I'm doing which imo. should be enough to beat NL25. I think the card distribution have been pretty bad for me, there have been loads of coolers, loads of terrible run outs (four card flush OTR in 3b pots where I bet, bet for value and have to x/f the river (might be a mistake?)).

I'm really in a bad mindset and I can't even imagine sitting down and having a winning session, I know I sound like a little bitch after just having a couple bad days, but they have been really hard on me mainly because the numbers seem much bigger than what I'm used to and I feel like all my hard work doesn't pay off. :f_frown:

I'm not really sure what my plan should be for the rest of the month, I'm backed for NL25 (still up a bit) but I really don't feel like playing NL25 anymore, don't even feel like playing at all, so I'm not sure how much more I will play for the rest of the month and I'm not sure what my future plans for poker are anymore (don't plan on quitting though, just spent $500 on Plenos coaching program :f_grin: )

I have been thinking about cashing out and starting at NL2 to get some confidence at get back to basics, I have also thought about going back to FR, but I really need some time to think about what I want and I will try to stick with that for a while then.

Until I find out what I want I think I will take a little break from playing and do some studying, maybe get a DB review to get someone elses opinion on wetter or not I suck at poker.. :f_confused:

hi mate,

I'm sorry you need to move down, but that's all part of the poker; it wouldn't be fun if it was too easy :)

Congrats on being mentally stable and decided to go one step back and redo some aspects of the game you missed.

I just saw your positional stats in staking thread, and my first impression is that you should be more successful from late positions, your BTN winrate should probably be higher, maybe you are too tight on the BTN?

That's just some hint because I only see the winrate, so the info is limited.

Hope it helps,
if you want you can also post your complete stats so we can try to help you pointing out some possible leaks?

GL, wish you to crush NL10 and go back to NL25 soon.

Fran

I really never played NL25, so take my hints with reserve and wait for other opinions.

I believe you play way too tight from the BTN, you should probably 3bet more and don't fold that much to flop cbet. Blinds seems fine. I also believe you should play just a little bit tighter from EP at nl25, and open more from MP. CO and BTN you should open much more imo.

It seems you have certain problems with postflop play from late positions, so you should try to work on that aspect of the game.

RFI is a better indicator than PFR so its hard to say, but it does look like you could be looser in the btn. Your SB wr is ridiculous, congrats!

I think your biggest leaks are UTG/MP, it looks like you're overvaluing your relative hand strength and getting to showdown too often and being dominated a lot. You need to fold more from those positions. Actually I think if you tightened up there pre you could do a lot better...

Thanks for the advice, I will post RFI when I get home this afternoon.

I already try to open more from BTN and try to CBet more. I will also try to look at my ranges, I might be too tight from EP and MP as holmeboy mention.

I have really not been very motivated to play lately, and I have thought much about not completely stop playing, but stepping down, I have so many things in my life I would like to do, but I spend so much time on poker, most of it on forums and other stupid stuff ;) I will probably try to play a bit more this month to get even to end the stake a bit better (although I will be paying up to around $200 from RB if I lose).

Next month I will probably have time to think it through and set some goals which also should give me time to maybe start working out and going out a bit more.

I also just got vecation in week 7, so I'm going to book ticket to Denmark so I can go see my friends which I'm really looking forward to, so I probably won't play that much in february since I'm in denmark 9 days where I can't play. That might actually be a good thing so I can get some time completely without poker :)
