How to make the most of a wave of motivation

You might still be pumped for the near year, so what can you do to capitalise on that before you hit a motivation slump?

We don't believe that watching a motivational video will suddenly make you a great poker player, consistent good habits and a commitment to learning will. However, it is undeniable that a short term boost of inspiration can start a positive snowball effect.

Every Monday morning at SpinLegends we share a 'Monday Motivation' video to get our players in the right frame of mind. Whether it's poker, chess, sport, business or study, the lessons are always universal, so we want to get you pumped in the same way.

BJ Fogg is widely considered to be the leading expert on behaviour change and has just released a new book on that very topic. One of his key findings is on what to do both when you are highly motivated and when you have hit a slump. As it is still the New Year your motivation is probably high, so check out what to do when you have a 'motivation wave':

Quite simply it's about using that initial motivation to make the inevitable slumps easier. In poker one way of doing that could be making a commitment now you getting some coaching or a new piece of software, something you might not be able to commit to when your motivation is low (just like away from the tables it could be signing up for a personal trainer at the gym).
