English Community Round-up
Welcome to the news round-up for the English Community. Each week, EagleStar88 will keep you in touch with some of the most important threads within the forum together with some of the fun posts, so that you never need to miss them.
Our Community Round-up is your weekly source forall that happens inside the PokerStrategy forums. If you missed
something last week and you still want to be in touch with our
community, here are some of the most important posts. This is just one
of many community-related projects being set up.
Whilst trying to feature blogs ranging from those just starting out in poker right through to those going professional, this particular blog has, for many weeks, been on my shortlist for those at that upper level. This week you, the community, voted and agreed that terrorblade along with and gerv should be added to RaisyDaisy poker blogging team, so for a taster of what you can expect in the coming weeks, visit the Path to Professional Poker Profits today.
It's also an appropriate time to provide a reminder to visit the RaisyDaisy, GiBlog, Confidential & Elephant blogs from time to time to catch up with all the latest news, poker stats, software updates and fun related items. They're all great reads and I particularly liked the "No...Wait... I asked for the chicken" item 🙂
Community member
macias09 asked for clarification on whether to just call the flop and if opponent bets the turn, should he also call. Known players:

Judge fongie agrees, suggesting that "a raise would pretty much isolate yourself against better hands only, its best to just call the flop."
He goes on to confirm "call the turn and fold to a big riverbet. Most 2nd pair hands who decided to
bet flop and turn probably won't bet river again, and most other queens
beat us."
Sample hands boards are available at various status levels and across sss, bss, mtt's etc. Obtain second opinions on the hands your unsure on today.

PokerStrategy: How long have you been playing poker?
alexd10: I've been playing poker since August last year when I joined PokerStrategy.com, thats when the addiction began 😛
PokerStrategy: So do you just play online at the moment, or also with friends and/or at a casino/pub etc?
alexd10: At the moment its mainly online, I play a few home games with my friends every so often. Eventually I would love to play some cash/tourneys in some casinos, and maybe when I'm 21 go to Las Vegas if i'm lucky enough.
PokerStrategy: Cool. Do you always beat your friends in the home games or do you let them win occasionally? 🙂
alexd10: Hehe, that reminds me of a home cash game I had at work (I work for a fun casino as a dealer) I was playing with my boss and the very first hand I manage to hit quads against his full house and knocked him out, he wasn't impressed but took it well 😀
I usually try to take their money but like having a bit of fun with them so will let them win occasionally.
PokerStrategy: Which variants are you currently playing and at what levels?
alexd10: Currently playing NL50 SH BSS, used to play sng's but then concentrated on cash games a couple of months ago.
PokerStrategy: Do you prefer the cash games or just fancied a change?
alexd10: Basically I saw some amazing cash game graphs and thought I fancy some of that! Whereas sng's I think are slightly harder to be successful at, obviously the exemption to that rule is Boku! hes just something else, utmost respect.
PokerStrategy: Do you have a favourite poker pro?
alexd10: At the moment from watching a fair bit of high stakes poker, I really like Tom "durrrr" Dwan, I think he has amazing reading abilities and the great thing is no one knows what he has because of his LAG style.
PokerStrategy: What do you like most about PokerStrategy?
alexd10: Quite a few things, the articles are great, there are also the videos which are good too. One of the best things is the communtiy feel and getting to talk to other poker players.
PokerStrategy: On which subject, are there any members you would like to say a hi to?
alexd10: I'd like to say hello to all the people who hang out on IRC, you know who you are, also a quick hello and thanks to everyone who reads my blog.
PokerStrategy: Ok if you were able to have 3 wishes come true (Harry Potter style), what would you ask for?
alexd10:
1. 100 more wishes; 😀
2. To succeed in life;
3. To find someone special.
PokerStrategy: lol liking number 1, cheeky 😀 I'm sure the other two will come true though my friend. 😉
alexd10: Thanks.
PokerStrategy: On a similar theme, if money were no object what would you buy, I'm guessing a property portfolio may be on the list somewhere?
alexd10: Oh for sure, I'm also quite into cars so definately a nice new Ferrari or Aston Martin.
(at which point Alex's postman interrupts us briefly, but sadly not yet delivering the Ferrari or Aston Martin).
The Ferrari would have to be in red and an Aston Martin db9 in silver.
PokerStrategy: Do you have any other hobbies outside of poker at all?
alexd10: I used to play rugby but got injured, I also play a bit of footie every so often in the park and I'm also a 7 handicap on the golf course.
PokerStrategy: Wow multi-talented, great handicap, nice one.
alexd10: 🙂 thanks.
PokerStrategy: Is there anything you would like to add or say to your fellow community members before we finish?
alexd10: Good luck at the tables everyone, remember when your on a downswing or break-even stretch that the poker Gods too can be cruel so just keep at it and it will eventually come good.
PokerStrategy: Wise words Alex. Well thank you for doing this interview, you've given us all a great insight into the person behind the name and we're very grateful for you taking the time out to talk to us today. We wish you continued success with your poker and look forward to seeing you in the forum and on the green felt soon.
alexd10: Thank you for the opportunity, it was fun.
Would you like to appear yourself one week or maybe you'd like to nominate a fellow member who you would like to know more about? Drop me a reply in the feedback thread and maybe your wish will come true 🙂

As always, this is your Community page and
whilst I try to browse most forum threads looking for points of
interest, it's of course not possible to cover everything. So go on,
drop me some suggestions and/or your thoughts on what you would like to
appear in this Round-up news item in the following feedback thread.
